So, I'm tweeting about bras with M&S. Who wants to tell me which stores have given incorrect measurements?

They have asked which store fitted incorrectly. Apparently they've invested a lot into their Bra fitting and would like to know which stores have incorrectly measured / fitted.

Shall we give them a list?!

Guildford-measured me as 36C, I'm a 32DD.

Why do they make the bras with modern fitting, and then use old fashioned calculation? If they made them like the measure, they would at least fit- because an m and s 36 would be a bravissimo 32, because they add the imaginary inches? The actual bras would both be 32 if that makes sense! It seems insane to make them one way and measure another!

Belfast. Measured recently and was told I was a 38 D/E. I am 34G.

Have been variously measured as a 36C, 36DD and a 38C in Windsor, Kensington High Street and Oxford Street.

In fact I am a 34E or 32F when not pregnant, 34G when breastfeeding.

Agree with everyone else that it's definitely NOT the fitter's fault though - at least with me they were never sloppy or slapdash, they were clearly conscientiously following what they've been taught and I've always had really nice ladies helping me. It's just that what they were taught is all wrong.

Westwood Cross in Thanet gave me a 40F when I should have been 36G. I politely asked the fitter about the measuring system, and she immediately became defensive and said "yes we ALWAYS add 4, because that's the way it works otherwise it wouldn't fit".

This has reminded me I need to take my measurements again for another intervention!

I was told (5years ago) that I couldn't possibly be a 36G for breastfeeding, despite wearing a lovely fitting bravissimo fitted bra. This was in Crawley, I really need to get fitted again as am still wearing those BF bras ( and feeding DC3) despite having lost 15ishkg

Any fitting experts on here - I've posted on the other thread with my measurements. I'm slightly shocked by the outcome so would love some reassurance that I've got it right!

MyFabulousBoys Thu 18-Jul-13 15:51:01

London Conley fitted me as 38B
Oxford street fitted me as 36C

I am a 32E. Thank goodness for Bravissimo!

Colchester refused to fit my under 18 niece but suggested 36D. Bravissimo fitted her at 30F. She was thrilled with the comfort and look.

Bath - I told them I was measuring 31 under bust & they told me I would need a 36 on that basis!

Velve - I came away so upset I was almost in tears. Way to make you feel really ashamed.

Bluewater for me, also spectacularly unhelpful with DD then aged 12 and made her feel very uncomfortable with their offhandness sad.

But please please please high street stores, can you stock smaller back-larger cup bras? A 28 back isn't just a "first bra" size.

BanjoPlayingTiger Thu 18-Jul-13 15:59:41

Teesside Park have measured both myself and my daughter incorrectly and in addition told me that the padding in the childrens bras doesn't make then look bigger but is just for stability and to give a better line. They refused to even consider that a bra with padding is completely inappropriate for a girl of 10.

MissStrawberry Thu 18-Jul-13 16:02:17

I have no clue what size I am now tbh and have 3 bras from 2 shops and different sizes. Need to buy new I think.

MissStrawberry, hop over to one of the other bra threads and we'll help.

MissStrawberry Thu 18-Jul-13 16:04:47

Where will I find them, SC? And thank you flowers.

LucyTheValiant Thu 18-Jul-13 16:05:49

Yes to smaller back sizes. The M&S lady told me that I couldn't possibly be a 28 back (I'm actually a 26) and that they only stocked 28s in their Angel range.

Also, in Oxford, I overheard a fitter being spectacularly mean to a young girl who was crying because she didn't want to take her top off to be measured. Really unnecessarily dismissive and rude. Unlike Bravissimo, where I took my niece, and they were utterly delightful to her and completely understood that she was shy.

Here MissStrawberry:

M&S Norwich fitted me as 38B

Bravissimo fitted me as 32E

MissStrawberry Thu 18-Jul-13 16:08:39

Thank you eastendfareast.

Em3978 Thu 18-Jul-13 16:09:56

Doncaster & Chesterfield both measured me differently (34dd and 36d) and at the time i was actually a 32ff.

I'm now a 30gg, self measured and it fits perfectly (just hard to buy such a size!)

Betty5313 Thu 18-Jul-13 16:11:41

Shrewsbury. they had me in a 32a, I tried a 30b which at least doesn't end up above my boobs but I'm actually a 28dd - thank you sorrellforbes! never been more comfy!

Alibabaandthe40nappies Thu 18-Jul-13 16:16:23

I was told I was a 42D by M&S in Chichester.

I am a 34GG/H, thanks to threads on here and a lovely fitter at Bravissimo.

If M&S got their bra fitting right then customers would go back in droves and probably buy a few other things while they were there. Sales are falling for a reason M&S, you could try listening rather than being dismissive every time someone tries to raise this issue with you!
