How long did it take before you saw an improvement in your skin? (If you did!)

Really hard to remember as I quit on December 31st 2001. I'd say a few months anyway. The lines around your mouth will disappear, you'll smell lovely, feel great & be better off financially. It's a win-win. No voice in the back of one's head saying "you're killing yourself you stupid cow" was/ is the biggest bonus. Now if I could just cut back on the wine, I'd be perfect!,
It's the best decision you ever made, good luck!

I'm not sure how long it took but you will definitely see a big improvement - my skin looked sooo much better, no blemishes, dark circles gone, and just pinker and smoother. And I've seen it go the other way too because I'm an idiot goes all grey and lifeless Sad

I quit on 1 June this year and my boss (nice woman that she is) and DH both commented within a week that I looked much healthier and had a bit of a glow to my skin. Felt good to hear that.

Come join us on the Quitting Smoking One Day At A Time thread in Gen Health when you're ready OP!

Gave up in 2008 to try for baby - started again in 2011 (VERY stressful stuff going on), then got pregnant with dc2 in 2012 and gave up as soon as I found out. So I've had a year off them again now and pretty hopeful it will stick this time!! I'm a much happier person as a non-smoker Smile

Within about a week I was glowing and less grey-skinned.

Give it a month and you'll be looking more vital and lovelier.

Honestly? when I quit smoking the first time I got acne, cystic acne, GP said it was just everything clearing out.

Started again and skin got better. Quit for over a year now and I have to be on medication for cystic acne.

I have no idea if it was just a coincidence or what but at least I can run now without coughing.

I still look horrid as I have replaced fags with wine and lots of carbs.

Give up because cigarettes don't help anything and will kill you quicker than anything else even cars.x

Samu2, I got really spotty when I stopped smoking, but not cystic acne. It cleared up after about 3 months.

People have told me that I look healthier, although I've been working long hours and drinking too much filter coffee. I'm looking a bit jaded recently!

I gave up smoking on June 1st this year. Within days I had a stomach upset and following that laryngitis, which was so bad I lost me voice completely for a few days and i felt dreadful.I am usually very healthy.

I'm now bug free and proud of myself.

I don't think I look glowy or anything, not yet.

I felt really poorly for a couple of months after quitting., I've only just stopped coughing up brown stuff and I stopped at the end of December.
