Open toe court shoes- ok for office wear?

I'm looking at a pair that have a very small peep toe at the end (just a bit of the big toe shows). Obviously I would have to maintain my pedicure!

Are these suitable for office wear (professional services) when it's this hot?

I cant see any reason why they wouldn't be as long as your pedicure wasn't chipped.

Thanks, I think so too. There's also the tights issue since I would be wearing with a knee length skirt. Might have to get some of those slightly silly toeless ones.

This is for 2 reasons:
a) I've never had a pedicure in my life
b) who the eff spends their time at work looking at women's toes? apart from those with a foot fetish

In answer to your question OP - yes I think they would be fine.
I often wear peep toe flats (never wear heels) and have been known to have a less than perfect finish on my toesl.

Now I know that to get a promotion, I need to first get a pedicure.

notaqueef for me, bare toenails- fine. Chipped varnish- not fine.
Personally I don't like the look of my bare toenails so always have a splash of varnish in summer. That's all I mean by a (DIY) pedicure (that and making sure my heels aren't dry and cracked)

Whether or not it is right, I do think things like this matter in places with a smart dress code.

Agree with Travel. Depending on your office dress code, I think open-toed shoes may be a bit too casual. Does anyone else in your office wear them?

My personal rule of thumb is that if your superiors don't wear it, you shouldn't wear it.

I work in the City in professional services (law firm). I am wearing a pair of open-toe heels today (no tights) and have been for most of the past couple of weeks. I'm not the only one here either.

I'd only wear closed toe for court but for general office wear I think it is fine to get your toes out.

hmmm Travelincolour you are the voice of my doubts. To explain further, I'm starting a new job next month so haven't had a chance to fully check out the dress code in the office. Also, am used to City of London conventions, but the new job is elsewhere (don't know whether that makes a difference).

At my old law firm (silver circle in the City) this would have been fine. But this would be pushing it and this would not be ok. For court, closed toed only.

Unchipped pedicure in opaque neutral/conservative shade absolutely essential mostly to hide any dirt.

But absolutely agree with the advice to start a new job as conservative as possible and then see what everyone else is doing.

When I worked for a Big 4 consultancy (many moons ago, when women were only just allowed to wear trousers and men's shirts could only be blue or white) a small open toe would have been absolutely fine.

Queef Pendulum mentioned that she had a pedicure. Bare toe nails are fine but if you had bright varnish on then chipped varnish is on a par with badly scuffed dirty shoes.

I don't wear open toes to work. And I wouldn't want to see my colleagues feet on show all day either (not that it makes any difference to working in an office environment anyway). Says unprofessional to me, but I have been brought up working with a load of dinosaurs
