I always thought a uk 7 was a European 41, but have just ordered some shoes from amazon in a 7 and received a 40- a quick google seems to suggest a range! Do shops usually specify or am I stuffed ( suspect return postage would be ££) ?

I usually try to get a 41 as a few shops do call a 40 a 7 and 41 an 8.

40 is more like a 6.5 so I think if I ordered a 7, I would expect to get a 40.5 or a 41.

I am a 7 and would not be able to get my hoof into a 40.

I am a 7 and usually get a 40. Recently when I've ordered a 7 a 41 has turned up. I thought a 41 was 7.5.
DH gave me a pair of 7 boots for Xmas, they are like boats, had to put in sheepskin insoles to stop them sliding.

40s are a 7 and 41 is 7.5

41 is a 7 but some shops use 40 as a 7 and others use 42 a a 7. It's very confusing.

Rieker 40 is 6 1/2

Which I only remember until I am tromping up and down the high street in search of a new pair of shoes.

I fit a 40 perfectly. I have size 6, 61/2 and 7's because no shop seems to agree on what a 40 is.
