Help me find fashionable yet comfy shoes for holiday to New York!

Am going to NYC for a week in September. Will be doing a lot of walking, and it could be quite hot still. Have no suitable shoes!

I quite fancy a pair of Supergas, have heard that they are comfortable...but am worried that my feet could get too hot in them.

So any suggestions for something comfy, but not frumpy? Would fitflops fit the bill?

Banana Republic ballet flats have memory foam in the soles and are very comfy.

You need something with support if you are walking alot. Supergas don't have this. Sorry not particularly trendy buI would go for trainers if y want to avoid sore feet.

I wore trainers - they're more supportive than my converse with cushioning, arch support etc but not gym trainers iykwim. By day 2 I was looking longingly at people's Nike Airs and very nearly bought some. Walking miles and miles on pavement is very unforgiving, go for maximum comfort.

Good comfy trainers- forget not being frumpy. You can bring something pretty for going out to dinner etc-

Nike Frees are very comfortable and let the air get to your feet.

I'm not fashionable, but even I reject 95% of Hotters shoes, however I can walk miles in these

I wore flat ash virgin trainers in New York last year (with orthotic insoles in) but plenty of otherwise stylish New Yorkers wore truly hideous functional trainers. I'd be tempted to get something like a new balance neon pair then you will be on trend but comfortable. Of course it does depend what you wear on the rest of you as to whether this will work or not!

I wore Skechers Go Walk everyday 'leisure shoes/trainers' on a recent holiday for long walks and they were good. Take a couple of comfy pairs and a nicer pair for evenings/slower days.

I wrote my Birkinstock Madrids when I went, I took my trainers in case off rain but didn't need them.
I'm very Envy, I loved it.

Softinos are very comfortable as are Art shoes. Some of the styles are quite quirky in a good way. Cushe is also good for comfort.

Thanks for the replies. I quite like the look of the Skechers Go Walk - I'd rather not wear a traditional trainer if possible.

Have worn Birkenstoke Milanos for city breaks in warm/hot weather.

Not the most chic of shoes but they are very, very comfy and you can show off your nail polish.

I have Go Walks and they are the most comfy shoes I have ever had. Plus they have an internal lining which stops your feet getting sweaty so you can wear with no socks and no rubbing.

If you don't want trainers then suggest these. Go try them on, you will want some!

Which ones do you have nelly?

I quite like the Mary Jane style but not sure if they'd be as supportive as this slip on style -

presumable anything from the go walk range would be ok?

I have the Mary Janes in blue and they're super comfy though they do get a teensy bit sweaty when it's hot. The other style aren't quite as attractive imo but would give you the option of wearing with socks if you preferred.

I am a half size and one of the shoes of mine rubbed slightly on the back of my heel the first time I wore them, but not since. Skechers can be quite big so I got a size four which fit well (I am a 4.5) - but I think a four would've been okay in them too. So much comfier than a pump!
