What are your two keys to feeling good about yourself?

I realised today that the two things I need are good jeans and a good haircut.

Today I have neither, and feel like staying in!

(I am starting to think skinny jeans are a curse: if I feel fat in them at 5'8" and size 10, then clearly they flatter hardly anyone. And straight jeans are the holy grail in the shops right now...)

Taking exercise is the main thing that makes me feel good about myself.

Good haircut also important.

My hair looking good and my shoes matching my outfit. My hair doesn't look good often as i'm too lazy busy to make it pretty but my shoes must match what i'm wearing, i can't wear beige fake uggs with a grey jumper for example. It makes my skin crawl.

Filling in eyebrows and a big, boofy, slightly curled blowdry with lots and lots of volume. I feel like a pinhead on a huge wobbly body with flat hair.

Being in the middle of some sort of exercise routine, however weedy, so I least I know I'm trying to fight back the ravages of time/cake (eg, am currently on week 4 of Couch to 5k, and the days when I'm not supposed to do anything, in order to let my flab recover muscles repair are the most serene of my week); blowdrying my hair, so it's nice and bouncy. My hair's curly and shoulder-length so the actual cut doesn't seem to make much difference but if I BBH it into smooth waves, I just feel more in focus.

Assuming you mean feeling good about my appearance as this is in S&B... Good hair and having that muscle burn you get from proper hard exercise - even if I don't look any different it makes me feel more toned!

Good eyebrows with tint & a tan

Like you OP, good hair and well-fitting jeans!

Secondary things are a natural-looking (fake) tan and make-up :)

Oh yes eyebrows! Threading works for me.

I also recently fell for the Blink lady's sales pitch and bought an eyebrow pencil and the difference is dramatic in my previously moth-eaten looking brows.

So:

  1. Taking exercise
  2. Threaded and subtly pencilled eyebrows

If I can add a third:
  1. hygienist-cleaned teeth (I hate the cross examination bit about dental hygience and eating habits but the results of the clean are great)

Threaded, well-shaped eyebrows
Manicure

Weeded threaded eyebrows and facial hair and a pedicure are my must-haves.

My fingernails can be bitten to crap, I don't care as long as my toes look nice. I can also live with my greying roots showing.

Fitting into my skinny jeans (ok, they're M&S jeggings these days) without an uncomfortable muffin top is a plus.

And no spots. I get big, horrid hormone-driven ones on my chin and when I have one, I want to curl up in a corner.

Yy to good hair. Also a good nights sleep. I feel amazing and that i can handle anything when I'm well rested & mentally alert.

yoga practice
eating well

doesn't matter what I'm wearing, if i don't do these two i don't feel good! annoying really, would much rather have some magic dress!

Ok, I know you said two, but I thought of another.

I like to sling on either a battered designer handbag or shoes/boots. The world might be crap, I might be wearing horrid clothes otherwise, but if I'm wearing my battered old Jimmy Choo boots (a bargain on eBay) or an Anya handbag, I do feel better for it.

Eyebrows.I do not "do" alot in the way of maintenance but I always look more awake, brighter when they are shaped well.

Also roots,if my highlights need doing my hair looks limp, dull.

JazzDalek · 17/06/2013 13:33

Good hair (this is a crapshoot)

Good face (seems to be largely hormonal. Have worked out that I look best when am ovulating Blush - skin clearer and glowier, eyes brighter. Then at the opposite end of the month I look and feel dull and tired and make-up doesn't seem to work as well, somehow)
