Full bikini wax or not?

So I'm used to being waxed on my legs, eyebrows and bikini line but I'm wondering whether its worth having the whole shebang? As in, do I get on all fours and have from my flange to my bum whipped of its hair...? I'm curious as to how painful it is?

Probably ok if you are used to a normal bikini wax. However, not sure why you would want to look like a prepubescent again ? Horses for courses, I suppose.

K8eee Tue 21-May-13 21:46:31

Yeah that's the only thing that I don't like the idea of, that i'll look like a 7 yr old girl again blush I'm happy just having a normal bikini wax, but have got this thing in my head that its cleaner grin

TheBreastmilksOnMe Tue 21-May-13 21:59:48

OFGS! I am finding the 'prepubescent' and sometimes even 'creepy' line regarding hollywood waxing really boring, prebuscent girls don't have underarmhair either, so how come removing that doesn't put you in the same catergory?

I am a beauty therapist and do hollywood waxing as well as to myself and I like it cos it feels cleaner and makes sex more sensitive (for me) not because I want to look like a child!

OP, give it a go but go to a good waxer that uses stripless or 'hot' wax, it only takes a few minutes, it hurts briefly but the more you get it done the less it will hurt and you never know, you may love it!

You don't have to get on all fours. You lie flat and put one leg to the side. It's very painful but not as bad if you bosh some co-codamol and ibuprofen beforehand. It's a lot more dignified than a smear test.

K8eee Tue 21-May-13 22:14:14

Thebreastmilk, what's stripless waxing and hot wax? Is that the same stuff that is used for leg etc waxing?

Also, I hope it's not tmi, but how does it work if you have had piles? I had them a few years ago and sometimes they flare up hmm I'm so conscious and worried about getting me bits out to someone I would've only just met grin

TheBreastmilksOnMe Tue 21-May-13 22:18:55

Binks, the position you get into depends on the waxers technique. I have my clients get on all fours to wax around the anus and perineum and buttocks if needed, then they lie down on their back with their legs in the frog position for the rest. Done in a doddle and silky smooth.

Ibuprofen/paracetamol don't do anything unfortunately they don't work on short sharp pain.

TheBreastmilksOnMe Tue 21-May-13 22:25:18

K8eee, stripless or hot wax doesn't use a strip to remove it it sets on the skin and you grasp the end of the set wax to remove, its kinder on courser bikini hair as it shrink-wraps the hair and doesn't stick to the skin.

If you had piles and were able to push them back in then its fine, if not then I'd avoid the area. With regards to being embarassed there really is no need like I tell my clients I'm a girl too I've got the same bits and I've seen dozens of bits so nothing you've got would faze me. Its just another body part to me. Any therapist worth her salt would feel the same.

K8eee Tue 21-May-13 22:30:25

Ah thanks, makes sense now! smile

Well it's ended up as a bit of lose skin when it's not inflamed. Not a heck of a lot of it, but you know it's there. I always make sure I have a wash before I go, but I even hate looking at my bits down there, well my arse more than anything!

Suzieismyname Tue 21-May-13 22:42:29

I'm sure you're clean enough just having a regular wax or no wax at all.
I'm another one who doesn't want to look like a prepubescent girl/porn star. ..

Circaea Tue 21-May-13 22:45:25

It's not actually cleaner, the hair has a role to play in keeping infection sources away. Women who wax it all off get more UTIs. I think it looks a bit porn star, personally, but lots of people seem to like it.

EleanorFarjeon Tue 21-May-13 22:46:32

Yes, but be warned - you'll never go back!

TheBreastmilksOnMe Tue 21-May-13 23:13:07

I just said it feels cleaner, which it does. No matting of menstrual blood in pubic hair etc.

Who says women who wax it all off get more uti's? How do they work these things out? Maybe women who wax it all off are having more sex cos it feels better which increases the liklyhood of a uti and not because they are bare down there?

Lucylloyd13 Wed 22-May-13 07:02:36

I have wondered about a full bikini wax, but feel awkward about having a woman intimately touching me to do it, I think I would feel embarrassed. Is it just me?

K8eee Wed 22-May-13 07:18:30

Lucylloyd that's exactly how I feel. Not sure how to feel comfortable with another female touching the real I tomato areas of my fanny, and my arse when I'm the I only one who needs to touch it anyway.

More uti's if you wax...? I always make sure I'm clean after having sex anyway, and before.

K8eee Wed 22-May-13 07:18:53

grin At Eleanor

AKissIsNotAContract Wed 22-May-13 07:37:43

What are tomato areas of your fanny?

K8eee Wed 22-May-13 07:41:18

grin Whoops, intimate. Bloody autocorrect!

BinksToEnlightenment Wed 22-May-13 08:09:35

Of course painkillers work on pain. They affect the perception of it in the brain.

Branleuse Wed 22-May-13 08:16:23

if you want to try it, its not as bad as you might think. The woman who did mine was an ex nurse and reassured me there was nothing she hadnt seen.

Its also not a long term commitment, if you dont like it, then it grows back.

Mine did it in stages, round edges first, so that it didnt look uneven if i wanted to stop

Branleuse Wed 22-May-13 08:16:49

and of course it doesnt look prepubescent.

Im assuming you have hips and tits

HmmmWhatAMess Wed 22-May-13 11:28:13

The beautician will give you some disposable knickers which will give your more intimate parts a bit of privacy, although this doesn't apply to your bum area.

I wouldn't worry about bearing all because they will do them day in day out.

Give it a try. It hurts less each time you have it and it really doesn't take long so the pain is over quickly.

I agree with Eleanor that you would never go back grin

xTillyx Wed 22-May-13 11:42:16

can I just jump in and ask the lady whoes a beautician ( and sorry if this is tmi)

I shave the whole area sometimes, which a lot of people say is bad but I'm lucky and don't really get a rash/ingrowing hairs. Anyway, would rather have it waxed all off but I have a mole on my outer labia. Its not really raised, more like a dark flat freckle. Would it be ok to wax the area?

Sorry again for jumping in and if its tmi

xTillyx Wed 22-May-13 11:43:26

Sorry for awful spelling!

TheBreastmilksOnMe Wed 22-May-13 18:44:13

Binks I have to disagree with the painkillers theory they work on a different pain, not sharp and sudden like a bikini wax. If I were to take a couple of painkillers, wait 30 mins then whack my thumb with a hammer I very much doubt the painkillers will do jack with the initial pain.

XTilly, never TMI I see it all everyday lol! I wax clients on their periods too so perfectly immune! In answer to your question though if it's hot wax it shouldn't bother your mole as it doesn't stick to skin but I'd ask the waxer to put a dot of oil over the mole before doing it just to be on the safeside.
