Shoes of Prey - Looks amazing, anyone bought any?

Shoes of Prey

Wow, I remember when this site launched years ago and I went had had a play and thought it was fairly cool, but just remembered about it there and they have so so so many more options now.

They are quite expensive though (£149), has anyone ever bought any and could tell me what the quality is like?

They don't have the option of an ankle strap unfortunately, which I need as I have tiny feet that seem to slide out of shoes that don't have a strap, but they do go down to a UK size 0/1 Shock so might be worth a shot.

I've just designed myself a little court shoe with a floral print and deep purple satiny-looking stiletto heel Smile Could spend hours on there.

I have not bought anything from Shoes of Prey, so I cannot comment.

However, I have designed ballet shoes for my niece on Moodbyme, where the concept is similar. On Moodbyme, you provide your feet dimensions (foot length and circumference), so that might help ensure that you get shoes that fit your tiny feet. The quality of the shoes were good by the way. However, the customising options may not be as numerous as on Shoes of Prey....

Yes I've used shoes of prey. The service is incredible. I was trying to match something quite specific so a fair amount if email correspondence. They looked at my designs, advised on suitable fabrics and even slipped in an extra swatch because they thought it might suit. The shoes were fab when they arrived. And come with spare heel tips, heel grips, toe pads and a travel bag. If you're not happy send them back and they'll remake them. Great company. I'll be using them again.

The site is fab - I've just designed the perfect ankle boot!

Dazzle, what was the fit like? I'm always nervous of online shoe shopping as am convinced they'll never fit.

Marking place, have designed 5 pairs of shoes already Grin, just worried about the sizing?

Before I order a pair I would love to know if they come up small??

I've found the size to be fairly true. I did ask them about the size as I was ordering heels and find they can slip of the heel. They advised ordering normal uk size and using heel grips which seems to have worked. However if they didn't fit they said they would remake them. You can email them with all your requirementsl and they'll advise. They respond really quickly.

If I can figure out how to post a pic to my profile then I will. I am however technologically incompetent Hmm

It's also making me realise that nearly all the shoe shops that are on the high street are pretty much selling the same stuff with a slight adjustment (and wildly varying prices!). The heeled gladiator sandal is pretty much exactly the same as the Michael Kors ones I bought last summer, though thankfully they were about quite a bit less in the sale. Had it been the other way round I'd be a bit peeved!

I'm going to design a few more and then whichever one I think I'll get the most wear out of I think I'm going to go for. Smile

I'm surprised this hasn't caught on in a bigger way so the cost could come down a bit

Thanks Dazzling, it's reassuring to know the service is good and they'll remake them. Was it recently you bought them?

Hi something. My hubby bought me a voucher as a Christmas present. Loads of designing fun ensued. Final product arrived in march Grin

Do they really do nothing between flat and 3"?

Report
dazzlingdeborahrose · 22/05/2013 06:02

Hi piprabbit, once you start designing you can alter the heel height. Start with the 3" and then you can take the height down by half inch increments.

Thanks dazzling - have just discovered the 1.5 inch platforms on the ballet shoes so I'll investigate the rest.

I've just found this thread and I wanted to let you know about another design your own shoe website, Upper Street - //www.upperstreet.com. I started using them last year as I have the opposite problem to Somethingtothink about, I have size 9 feet.
I could bore you for hours on my battle to try and find decent shoes that fitted so when I read about Upper Street in a magazine, I think Elle, I was there like a shot.
Apart from joy of finally being able to wear stylish shoes that fit and more importantly that no one else has, why I chose Upper Street was because I was able to visit their studio and try the shoes on before I took the plunge and ordered.
I would definitely recommend designing your own shoes, particularly if you've small or large feet as the high street is not as good as catering for us as the masses (don't get me started!).
Yes, the shoes aren't cheap, but then I don't think shoes should be. If we're only paying £20 for a pair of shoes, someone, somewhere, is being expolited and I don't want to be part of that.

One more to share, www.milkandhoneyshoes.com. They offer so many great designs, materials, colors and heel heights. I've checked out all of the sites and the shoes on this one look like they are the highest quality and also the mostly nicely shaped. I've only ordered from Milk & Honey and they were great, super helpful with all of my questions and I LOVED my shoes. It's a great concept all of these companies have come up with. Good luck with yours!

Me. I have just had some delivered - silver brogues. I love them and will be ordering more from them. I am a size 9. Quality fine and I like their designs - they seem very up to date with designer shoe offerings. Fabulous service.

I love Milk & Honey. They have great shoes and I've had great success with them- nice styles and quality. Plus no import duties to the UK :)

On the back of this thread just ordered 2 pairs of shoes! I love Mumsnet! It has the answers to every question. I spent much of Sunday morning designing my perfect shoes but then hesitated about committing to actually buy them. I am a proper size 9 ie EU 43 (not 42 that so many shops try to fob you off with) and am now excited! If these shoes are as good as the reviews were a couple of years ago, this could prove to be expensive. Shoes that fit and I get to design them!
