My DS has quite a crew evening events to attend over the summer, school theatre trip, leavers do s etc. I'd like to find him a nice informal jacket but really have no idea what boys who are fashion conscience wear ( is there such a thing) Should it be a denim jacket, or a leather jacket? no idea really.

I wouldn't buy denim or leather unless you are very sure you'd choose the right style, they are both easy to get wrong in times of sizing or styling.

Brands like Adidas do light summer jackets, a bit more dressy than hoodies. Adidas Originals do some nice leather jackets with baseball jacket collars, I know my son would appreciate one of those. If you buy from Footlocker, Superdry or Jack Wills you couldn't really go wrong, it depends on budget. I like this style www.jackwills.com/en-gb/product/stockton-jacket-10000084801

No jacket. At least for my 11yo boy...

If it is absolutely hoofing it down, he'll west his cycling waterproof, which has no hood, but that's it.

Ah, is he still in primary school? He might wear one then. DS went off them in year 7.

Retro type baseball jackets are making a bit of a return round here, and I noticed they are in Top Man and River Island.
Ds1 has requested one for his birthday - he'll be 16

My ds loves clothes. He has 2 jackets from Zara he wears for formal things- one's like a cross between a suit jacket and a fitted blazer in mid grey with black binding round the edge. The other is a very unstructured linen with a blue lining.

But I would say if he's not into clothes don't bother. He won't wear it and that'll make you cross!
