I tried the OCM a few months ago, and though initially it seemed great, I ended up with loads of spots, some big, some tiny, but loads of them. I tried a dermaflannel and I think that's helped but despite several weeks back on my usual stuff I continue to look like a teenage glue sniffer. The face wash I use has salicyclic acid in it and I really like it but I'm looking for something that will kill these spots, like an overnight treatment sort of thing. I'd go day moisturiser as well if it has SPF in it. And won't clog my pores up.
I've got a Big Thing in 2 weeks time. I started the OCM with hopes of having dewy glowing skin by the time it came around but now I'm just hoping not to be horribly spotty. I should say that the glue sniffer look comes not only with big squeezable spots and the little tiny red bumps that don't amount to anything but don't go away, but also dry flaky bits with very red skin underneath. Help me please!!
I've seen la Roche posay stuff talked about on here, but also avene. Am willing to part with cash to sort this out but don't have £££...
Thanks withasponge I'm actually too scared to stop using my usual face wash, things have calmed down a bit since I went back to it, I just need to get rid of the residual mess of spotty red skin. I think if I didn't have this event to go to I wouldn't mind experimenting but not at the moment! Xx
I am also perimenopausal and had the exactly the same look last year. I looked like a glue sniffer too.
The doctor said it was perioral dermatitis. I couldn't use medication as I was on various others due to an immune disorder. She prescribed a cream, but admitted it probably wouldn't work. It didn't. So I tried apple cider vinegar as an act of desperation and it worked like a dream!
You may need to dilute it to suit, but I dabbed it on neat with cotton wool to the affected areas. I suffered that horrible rash for about two and a half months, with the ACV it was gone within a week.
It has flared a couple of times since, but as soon as it appears, out comes the ACV and it's gone in a day or two.
Well, I went to boots and got the lrp effaclar AI and duo (I think.....) haven't actually got them in front of me and am also bamboozled by night shifts. Anyway. Tried both before I went to bed earlier, and my skin feels smoother today. Fingers crossed
Night 1 and a half (fecking nightshifts...) of the duo and the lumps on my chin have GONE. I've still got some red patches but all the little tiny multitude of spots have disappeared. Is it made from virgin unicorn blood or some other witchy stuff?? I am extremely impressed so far!
It is pretty amazing! I was talking to a colleague yesterday admiring her really beautiful skin (as you do...) and she said she's been using Liz Earle C&P for the last couple of years. I was blown away when she told me she was 62. Would never in a million years have thought it. So I think when the Big Thing is over, I might go and get some
