Newly single and I want to be nice to myself. What shall I buy/do?

I split up with my DP last month, and have been on a bit of a rollercoaster since then. I'm trying to be nice to myself, in a bid to make me feel a bit better about things, because it's honestly still so hard. So, what can I do? I've done a bit of shopping, but what nice things could I buy to cheer myself up? I was thinking some lovely summery staples that will make me look fab (because obviously looking fab is going to sort my life out, but y'know...), or some really decadent beauty treatments, things I could just do at home of an evening....I don't know, I just want to buy/do nice things for MYSELF and be a bit selfish. I'd love some suggestions please :)

I always love bright colours to cheer myself. I love this dress but some of my friends think its hideous.

Well, if you don't have one already, why not treat yourself to a really nice vibrator! They might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I wouldn't want to be without mine.

Yes, exactly! A little pink rabbit changed my life.

How is the budget? I had a flyer through the door for a mobile beautician who could come and pamper me in an evening. I'm tempted with a facial, manicure and pedicure to make me feel better groomed for the summer. Maybe that is an idea for you? Time it right and you can get a really good pamper at a beauty counter, without having to spend too much money.

I'm fairly tied to the house so I have fun online "window" shopping. Running up a good list of things I'd like to see in real life, so I can fit trips to RL shops in to my limited time. I agree about bright colours (I'm a HoC winter, so brights are spot on for me), so I have a collection of bright teeshirts and shirts on my list to wear with black linen skirts and trousers. I suppose it really depends on your style; I'm at the stage (and shape Sad ) in life where many things don't look right. Do you like seperates, or a dress?

Sorry to hear you've had a rough time - keep in touch with friends and maybe a shopping trip with them (and a girly lunch out?) would help as well. My friends persuade me into clothes I would never have looked at on the hanger. Take care.

I love these suggestions!

Re. budget....well for clothes, I don't really mind, I'm willing to pay for quality if it means having something decent that will last and make me happy! I tend to wear dresses mainly, with leggings/opaques, but I'm really on the lookout for a good pair of jeans and maybe a blazer for the summer. I have no idea about my colours but I have long brown hair with caramel tones and fairly yellowish toned skin which tans pretty quickly, I'm a pretty standard size 12.

LOVE the idea of a mobile beautician Grin I'm also pretty tied to the house, so that sounds perfect and the sort of thing I'm looking for for the evenings. That's almost the time I'm most worried about, because when I'm at work I'm fine, but at home I have too much time to think and so nice pampery things will distract me I hope.

And MaybeBently, thank you. I've been wanting to hide mainly but have some amazing friends who just haven't let me do that, and have been very good at keeping me busy. I'm hoping things can only get better from here.

I would go for all new underwear. After I left DD's Dad, it's something I started stocking up on. Not just bras and knickers, but also tights, vests and things to wear in bed.

I also went and had my make up redone by Mac (Bobbi Brown are also good) and that really made me feel better about myself.
