Help - need dress for summer ball - an impossible task

I'm in my fifties, 5ft 3, (so has be able to be taken up easily), athletic size 12 build, but brawney shoulders and arms (which I'd like to cover), pale skinned but yellowy (so all shades of oyster and taupe are out).

I sound delightful, don't I?

And budget - around £150.

What sort of style do you usually wear? Which colours do you like?

Oh, and 'athletic size 12 build' I think you mean broad shoulder, slim hips, little definition on the waist. Is that right?

Your description of my figure is spot on MrsLettuce!

I like blues and greys. Black might be a bit over the top for the summer.

I foundthis which I quite like, and think I could carry off, if it is indeed a pinkish tone.

Obviously it can't be something girlish, or expose too much flesh.

I fell instantly in love with the Adrianna Pappell one - of course it's not in my size.

the damsel in a dress Kayleigh is lovely too, but out of stock

I don't thnk I can do white - I'm too grubby a person.

Am toying with the TART iunfinity one at the moment...

I just got a beautiful bridesmaid dress for my DD from light in the box. I was nervous about buying online but the dress is perfect.

They have evening wear and do some styles made to measure ,some with sleeves

If you are pale and sallow skinned you should wear cool colours, like blues and purples, cool reds and pinks.not black

Kristina, I'm just looking at Light In The Box.

WHat was the quality like?

And how long did it take to arrive?

Was the fit OK?

Yy, am also curious- have recommended them before with no idea of the quality.

I've head a lot of good things about light in the box too. Never tried them though.

The TART one is beautiful.

Oh, I see it's an infinity dress. hmm.

TBH, you can see the flaws in the pictures - seams not lying flat, zips badly set.

I guess you get what you pay for. Maybe when you're young and gorgeous it doesn't matter.

Well, if it's what one wants they are beautiful, very versatile dresses, but if you weren't expecting they could be a nasty shock, I fear. Is this sort of dress.

Also in BHS but presumably of lesser quality than two birds / TART

Keep X posting - love that sparkly one on Nordstrom MrsLettuce.

I'll have to pretend I can't see the price though.

Am still toying with Light In the Box - it means I could get it made the right length. Would only be a bargain if it fits/looks nice though.

I think you should go with Lightinthebox.

Am leaning that way Tethers, but I'm going to sleep on it - well actually am going to see the new Star Trek film first. But I don't want to order in a rush.

The quality was excellent. This fit is exactly as on their measurements -the ones on the chart are the garment size, not your body measurements. I think it took about 4 weeks, so no good if you are in a rush
