I have tons of products, I have awkward dry, dehydrated, yet oily, flaky, crazy, sensitive skin. But over the years I have learned how to care for it and found a whole battery of products that work. Being on the pill for almost 20 years helped too - in fact it's the main factor.

However over the last few years we have been ttc, with no luck, and I have various gynae issues and lately my hormones have gone stark staring batshit mad. Having seen a gynae consultant I now know there are lots of things 'wrong' and as a result I think my hormones are totally out of whack :(

My skin likewise.

Can anyone suggest what I can do for hormonal skin? It's like I am a teen mixed with a menopausal woman. I'm managing it ok but some ideas would help.

Anyone?

I've recently tried Avene, after trying la Roche posay and found Avene better. I'm not TTC but have hormonal skin and found their extremely gentle cleanser and 20spf moisturiser fab. Calmed my redness, lessened the multitude of spots and kept me moisturised most of the day!!!

Thanks - I loitered near the Avene counter the other day but wasn't sure.

I tend to use natural products and get put off by a lot of the ingredients, though people say their sensitive skin does ok with them.

I am tempted by a dermalogica facial as I have a few products that I have gone back to and they seem to be helping. Again, loaded with chemicals though...

marking place as I have the same issue. Both Avene and La Roche Posay dry my skin out, which then makes it produce more oil :( After spending an embarrassing amount of time reading ingredient lists in Boots I have bought the below - it has salicylic acid (which everyone agrees is good for hormonal skin) and no SLS:

It feels good so far, but the test is in about a week when my skin normally erupts!

The other thing I'm trying is drinking more water and having less refined carbs and less processed food and only organic wine ;)

ps a dermalogica facial brought me out in loads of tiny pimples. I'm not saying don't try it, but maybe go for a mini (shorter) facial to see how your skin reacts - I threw myself in the deep end with an hour long one, and I don't think my skin liked the sudden barrage of attention.

When I had hormonal skin I found Weleda products really good.

I found the almond range best for me

Thanks - I always buy cleansers containing salicyclic acid as it really helps my skin, SLS makes me break out really badly.

I like weleda so I might check those out too.

So far I switched to dermalogica essential cleansing solution and my skin is feeling better for it - I think it's better to treat it like sensitive skin rather than oily as oily stuff seems to make me even greasier.

Bloody hormones!!!
