..in the days when I did the school run, and lazed about all day in the sun with toddlers pretending it was hard work.. Wink

I think for me this would be a serious contender:

www.gap.eu/browse/product.do?cid=89623&vid=1&pid=000453727001

loose so you dont sweat - check
sleeves so no bra issues - check
good length - yup
easy to style - check

NB for all detractors
No it isnt " dressing up" for the school run, it is shoving something over "sunning yourself in the garden" clothes

Nice colour. But it would be too short on me...I am 6 feet tall.

I'm assuming this is either for the school run in sunnier climes than the UK, or for the school run in July?

Report
Nehru · 04/05/2013 08:54

for about 2 days in July Wink

IT all started that really hot summer in 2003.
see how old i am?

I likey.

There are a few days a year when I regret my life as a working mum and wish I was still in the school-run dress phase of my life. That dress would be great over a bikini top and cut offs.

Only a few days though.

I remember that summer. I worked every day in my poxy part-time job at Waitrose pre-uni and had to wear tights.

I liked that dress. Wish I had the knees for it!

what do you wear shoe-wise,seems a bit plain?

I prefer the round-necked version.

I'd think just sandals on feet would be fine.

I bought this yesterday - v. flattering, not sure if it's a throw-on-over-bikini-and-shorts, however.

So funny - have got the navy one on my wishlist ready for discount day. Also want the twill mini and neon shorts.

Oh I love the scoop neck one, but it doesn't come in the fabulous green Sad. I'm a GAP obsessive, but as am old gimmer I normally find their dresses too short - I'll definitely give this one a try in store though - I do need school run dresses in the summer because I have a short turnaround between work and school pickup, and I hate doing the run in work clothes, especially if I'm going to take the DCs straight out to the park.

Cripes no, that's waaaaay too short. Are you all pixies?

Report
LadyIsabellaWrotham · 04/05/2013 10:08

I am a pixie, but, yes I'll need to try it on to work out if I can get away with the length - no point in a school run dress if you have to wear leggings/opaque tights underneath it.

sassytheFIRST · 04/05/2013 10:10

Length is fine if your legs are ok shape - remember they'll be lovely and tanned cos you'll have spent all day sunning yourself working hard in the garden.

Yes Amber, your legs have to be good enough for that dress, because I appear to be about 15 years older than you, and I want my knees to be up to the job.

Nice dress. I remember the outrage that someone could buy a school dress just for the school run!

I want a nice weight t-shirt
not clingly..more swingy and hip length
neckwise , anything except crew neck

...but it doesn't exist
