Leggings for summer?

Hi all
I'm wondering what you all wear for the summer under neath 'shortish' dresses/tunics? I've worn a shortish summer dress today with black leggings which look fine but I wasn't too sure it was summer ish in look. I only have one pair of leggings (!). Rest of the time I wear tights or stockings for a more formal look.

Help! Are their leggings that are lighter in colour which look fine? I can't really wear them without anything under. I'm a size 8 and quite petite but feel conscious about my legs!! Thanks.

Hi takeaway2. I have tried loads of leggings as they are my staple outfit under tunics etc like you. To be honest I have learnt one thing about them, whether they are black, blue, red etc etc and that is cheap ones look, well cheap basically. Too sheer and lose shape after a couple of washes.
My mum bought me some navy ones from John Lewis a few weeks ago and think they were £25 but they are lovely and thick and really supportive without being uncomfortable. totally opaque, you could go wear bright pink knickers and no-one would know!
Summer colours??? Navy I think is more summery than black, or even brown with the right top? I think shoes make the look summery rather than the legwear. I wear black leggings with wedge sandals and that doesnt look out of place in nice weather

I wear this look a lot, it translates well from winter through to summer. I wear black, grey, and in hot weather and on holiday, white (yes!) under tunics. I have a new pair of very light grey leggings and am building up to wearing those. I buy from Hush, and White Company.

Almost any shoes, sandals or boots seem to work with this. I'm quite tall, slim, sort of straight-up-and-down in terms of my figure and people give me compliments about my clothes so I can't look too awful.

Thank you for your response! My dress today is blue/green in colour. Maybe grey leggings might be good. But will try those other colors too.

Yes I agree. It's the shoes that make the look! First the pedicure though. Grin

Yes your toes must look nice to get away with any open shoes. I posted earlier about having french on toes as I thought it would be more summery but going to stick with a dark colour (my fave!)

Try Fat Face for lovely soft navy leggings. They are not too expensive and they are not see through!

I've just bought some cropped leggings for summer (if we have one that is) I don't like the top of my legs but the bottom of them is fine so I can bear to bare Grin

Falke cotton touch leggings. Expensive ( £22) for what looks like tights in the pack but they are lovely - fit like tights, opaque, and because they are cotton, great for summer. They come in black, navy, grey and probably more. Mine last for years, and I wear them a lot.

I always wear black leggings but to be honest tend to stick to neutral colours anyway. My main look is usually long vest, leggings and Converse or sandals. Winter it's the same with a cardi and Uggs.

I agree with the cropped leggings, just make it more 'summery'
