olive think carefully about the short jacket option, if you are tall..your legs could look like girders...

I like that first Hobbs one

(interesting factoid - I used to be a Miss Jones)

Can you wear black to a wedding? I think a nice black one with a bright top would do.

Also, taking the girls, how do I fit all their shite in a nice bag?????!!!! I will look like I am going away for the weekend.

DOs AND DON'Ts

A dressy coat works especially well for a day-into-evening wedding. For the ceremony, button the coat. Then whip it off for the reception to reveal something more glitzy. Ensure your dress is not longer than your coat.

The jacket-over-dress combo is also versatile. Bracelet sleeves are the most elegant. Matching is less interesting than contrasting, so if your dress is patterned, wear a plain jacket, and vice versa.

If you are wearing a skirt suit, go for something with a defined waist. Experiment with pattern and texture. n If you want lots of wear from the outfit, choose a skirt suit, as you can mix and match it with your existing wardrobe, wearing the jacket with jeans.

With trousers, avoid the job-interview look. Soften the jacket with a luxurious silk scarf or wear a flowing tunic.

Keep your bag small and smart. Avoid big hats if you’re short.

yes olive, could look toooo long.

also - does the trinny & susannah mantra "never wear colour with black" still stand??

there's a nice spotty (indigo/paler blue) one on the monsoon website..can't directly link to page but it's under casual jackets.

Did you want a fitted tunic and wide legged pants?
I ask because I bought the most amazing suit but the top half isn't a jacket it comes in either choc brown/natural or white and was gorgeous...from Sainsburys!

Top was £16 bottoms £18 . I was amazed the linen is fab quality really thick. I'm wearing mine to death at the moment and going to get another colour too.
