Has anyone had a really bad fake tan disaster? Please share!

Mine was recently on holiday. Burnt my fair olive skin in the bloody sun so thought it would be smart to douse myself in the old self tan. Woke up streaky as hell, quite orange, and in the bright sunlight looked like an Oompa Loompa. Had to go on a boat trip that afternoon and was very aware of tourists staring at me and probably laughing at the attempts to hide my streaky hands :( double cringe :(

Anyone else?

I had a spray tan (never again) and it was so dark and orange but the worst bit was that i had a drink just after leaving the salon and dribbled some down my chin and licked my lips so had a pale ring around my mouth in the middle of my ridiculous orange face!

I has fake tan applied at a Clarins Salon once. It was so dark and patchy it made me look like I'd been been down t'pit rather than St Tropez Shock. I can laugh about it now but it was such a disaster that I made my face sore trying to scrub it off/make it more even.

Also prepping for expected "hottest day of the year" 3 years ago I used a L'Oreal spray tan at home the night before. The next day whilst everyone else was swanning around in light summer clothing I was adorned in jeans and a long sleeve top Confused. Basically I had a lovely blend of bare white patches or bright orange patches!

Why is self tan so bloody hard to do that's what I want to know. And they all stink of digestive biscuits and wotsits.

The St Tropez Gradual Tanner is brilliant for an even tone but unfortunately you still end up stinking of biscuits :o

I've ended up stripey or blotchy so many times that I no longer bother. The world must accept my blue/whiteness!

Worst one was when I stank to high heaven of self tanner - people moved away from me on the bus. But no colour developed at all.

After once Turing up to a wedding as a Donatella Versace impersonator, I now avoid all fake tan.
However, I do love tinted moisturisers. Garner Summer Body is my fave. But I know others like the Dove one.
I just put some on as I would a body moisturiser at night. You do still need to rinse your hands after, but there is none if the fake ran disaster areas!
And you get lovely soft skin too.

Turning and Garnier. Oops.

Yes, I did last year. Tried to scrub it off with Mr Muscle (the one in the orange bottle, oh the irony). It didn't work, I looked like a complete twat.

Oh god this is timely as I was contemplating this in desperation having just booked our first holiday in years. I am so white.

Did you really try Mr Muscle Getorf? Grin

I can't stand the smell either so think I will stick to luminous skin.

Yes, mr Muscle and a loofah. And after asking on here someone suggested toner. So quarter of a bottle of Lancome 20 quid a bottle stuff. It didn't work.

I am very pale, every year I say I will not bother with fake tan, every year I try once and make a mess. I will not bother this year (bet I do).

A spray tan for a Xmas party. I specified No orange on account if the fact that I was wearing an orange dress.

I looked like an adult sized Oompa Loompa :-(((

Well there was a thread about a year ago entitled something like 'Arse I fake tanned the baby' if you want a giggle!

I covered myself in fake tan and went to bed the night before I was due to wake up early hours of the morning for a flight to Greece :) ... only when I woke up there was a powercut so dim lighting and I just assumed all was ok.

It was only when I got to Gatwick airport and got some very very odd looks that I went to the toilets and realised I was more orange than an orange.

I was mortified.

I never fake tan before bed unless I know the colours developed now.

When I was doing my spray tan training, we were told that it was okay to put the tan over make up.
I found out the hard way that this is NOT true. (Well it is, make up doesn't effect the end result, just the guide colour) My friend and I ended up with hulk green faces. To make matters worse, the spray training was at half 9, we finished at 12 for lunch and had to go to a Clarins training event from 1 until 5. It was awful, Clarins lecturers were looking at us like we had 2 heads, I didn't even notice how bad it was until I got on the bus and the driver turned round and said "alright! Hulk smash?"

Last weekend I forgot to put sticky feet on and stood in spray-back from the airbrush, I still have dark brown soles and that's after using tan remover/body scrub!
I also fell asleep on my arm, I've got quite watery eyes so woke up with a tear line right down my cheek and a massive splodge on my forearm where my tears had pooled.

I have loads of mishaps! I'm a professssshional, honest! Wink

My poor friend on her wedding day. She was bright orange and in her backless dress you could see the streaks. She had a white neck too.

NeoMaxi - fear of being like your friend is why I had a practice session on my legs about a month before my wedding. I ended up this weird blotchy mess and looked like I'd developed some weird tropical disease!

I remained my usual blue-white self for my wedding despite nearly having a stand up row about it with my bridesmaid who couldn't accept paleness at a wedding

I spent the day before my wedding scrubbing my neck with a nail brush and nail polish remover. I asked her not to tan my face as I was terrified of it being too dark (thought I could match my face in with make up) so she stopped the tan at various stages across my neck

I had a "bad" fake tan once at some little salon just off Oxford St...don't know what I was thinking, it was properly small and grim. They tango-ed me good and proper the day before we went to a posh wedding. Thing was, I kind of liked it! Gave me the fake tan bug!

vvviola my mate had one of those practice sessions too and the tan looked lovely....on the day, a different girl did it!

You?re telling me. Holidaying in Goa, India can be a lot of fun. But if you ain?t careful, you could get a really bad tan. That I know personally. Initially , I hated going to Goa or any beach vacation in general but now I love them. The difference? I don?t have to worry about those bad tan marks anymore since I have enrolled for Instaculpt?s skin treatments. Their treatments removed my tan the last time.
