professional studio/photographer for a mature 'model' book in London, any reccomendations?

I am thinking about having some professional photos taken, with a good photographer, and create a book (model style iykwim) I want to avoid big busy studios and lots of people.
However I have few problems

1 - I am shy in front of strangers and hate posing
2 - My wardrobe is shit and I can't put clothes never mind accessories together so I would need to borrow stuff from someone who can help me create a look
3 - I am rubbish at styling my hair and doing my own make up so I would need someone to do it for me

4 - I don't have much money but don't mind paying a reasonable price if good results are guaranteed.

Has anyone ever done it or know who to recommend?

(((Imagines OP's house covered in bootyful pictures of her in various cringeworthy bootyful poses)))))

No idea where about in the country you are OP, but these people in Kent produce brilliant results - they do all the make up and hair and. I think, have stuff you can borrow. OhLaLaBoudoir

I want some angles. Where can I get some? Sho the photos OP

LadyMountbatten Mon 22-Apr-13 22:32:03

Christ. Those boudoir ones are tacky

Geordieminx Mon 22-Apr-13 22:32:38

Angles? Like as triangle?

((Goes to bed thinking about Mr Maker...."I am a shape"))))))

Sorry grin

I knew when I read the op, she'd get ripped to shreds. All she wanted to know is a good place for glamour shots.

LadyMountbatten Mon 22-Apr-13 22:35:17

Olly. Angles

Thank you greenshadow.. have you used them?
I am looking for something high fashion, eccentric...not the conventional 'photo studio' kind of make over. Also just normal size photos to keep in a book.

Living social and similar sites often have deals like this advertised at good prices which sometimes include make up using MAC products and a hair stylist too

GreenShadow Mon 22-Apr-13 22:38:57

No Yoni, I haven't but know someone who did and they had excellent results.

YoniShapedLoveBox Mon 22-Apr-13 22:39:17

oh sorry greenshadow, I am looking for something else, I don't think your recommendation is what I am looking for, thank you for the trouble anyway.

I thought this was an stealth-advertising thread at first, so didn't bother to open it...

These people are based in Wimbledon and they're really good at putting you at your ease, and making the best of people.

HTH smile

Thanks olyroller, the only reason why i explained further why i wanted my photos taken in a studio despite my shyness and bad fashion sense is because people already where asking why I wanted photos if I clearly didn't like clothes nor people (?)...I didn't know that you one thing necessarily exclude other (?)...
I didn't think that talking about myself the way I did would offend so many people.
But I am not looking for glamour photos, it is hard to explain, but would be the kind of photos they take at the America or Britain's Next Top Model for example...just to realise a teenage fantasy. Even though I am not a teenager
Anyway, guess this is too ridiculous and I have come to ask in the wrong place. Should have known better.

YoniShapedLoveBox Mon 22-Apr-13 22:47:58

Thanks Avril, Wimbledon will be perfect, I will have a look now...

OK. If what you said about your personal styling is true, then I reckon you need a personal stylist more than a 'studio shoot'. This woman, Rosie Davis, has a style in between edgy and classic that I'm (somewhat randomly) guessing might be up your street.

Ask her about sorting out your shoot. The good news for you is that this irresponsible economic shutdown Austerity crap has affected the fashion industry quite badly. Many photographers & studios are now offering vanity portfolios, when a few years ago they wouldn't have entertained the thought. Even Elite seemed to be offering them (at a discount!) when I googled for you - but I didn't check, it seems a bit of a stretch. Anyway, ask Ms Davis or whomever you choose.

garlicyoni Mon 22-Apr-13 22:50:34

Btw, don't thank me for Googling that for you. I understand you know how to do it yourself.

Evening all
peace and love eh?

ThatGhastlyWoman Mon 22-Apr-13 22:54:15

Quirky he does- but not necessarily the sort of thing you're looking for. You could also contact the LPA for recommendations- though without knowing your budget...

Last thing- you can be as good-looking as all get-out (have no reason to doubt you, and, well, good luck to you!), but that doesn't always equate to photographing well, especially if you are shy, awkward, or find it difficult to work with photographers. That's where a lot of the skill and experience of a professional portrait photographer comes in- particularly those who do non models/slebs/media types who are comfortable in front of the lens.

YoniShapedLoveBox Mon 22-Apr-13 22:54:30

Ok garlic thanks.

garlicyoni Mon 22-Apr-13 23:00:46

Ooh, that Rusecki guy's invented quite a nice little niche there, hasn't he!

YY to what you said about professionals who know how to work with amateurs, Ghastly. Honestly, OP, if you've set aside some money for this I'd recommend finding yourself a mentor for the project - a stylist.

ThatGhastlyWoman Mon 22-Apr-13 23:00:47

Argh. That should read 'not comfortable in front of the lens'... gnnn.

ThatGhastlyWoman Mon 22-Apr-13 23:05:32

Yup, garlic - a good stylist really can make all the difference. And by the sounds of it, the results might be disappointing without one. I know Tony does (or did) makeover photography with private clients in the past at Alfie's Market, and I'm pretty sure he used a stylist, too.
