Calling all HOC winters.....

So, I had my colours done yesterday and I am now a sprinter winter. My best colours being royal blue, electric blue, damson, lagoon blue and light emerald.

Of course a shopping trip is now required Grin so I'm just after any inspiration by what you fellow winters have recently bought...

Hi Queen C - marking my place as I had mine done yesterday too! Also winter, my best colours are Indigo, Royal purple+blue, lobelia, damson, carmine and emeralds.

Had a wardrobe clear out last night - I had a lot of colour in there, but mostly not right (lots of cream, heathers and muted greens etc). However, now I have emptied out all the wrong colours all I seem to have left are the basics of winter - black, white, grey, navy, burgundy..........which is a bit depressing Grin, so I need to add some more of my new colours.

Interested to see what others have added for summer. I love the bright winter jewel colours for evening wear....but can't quite get my head round the bright blues/purples/pinks for day time, especially for holiday/beach wear Confused.........think that my holiday look might be Rivera-ish with indigo/navy and white and a bit of red thrown in, but not sure - would like to know what looks other winters come up with at this time of year?

I am trying navy/white/grey for summer neutrals with pops of red, fuschia, hot turquoise. I also add silver in the mix too.
I love being a winter :)

I love the winter colours (am a sultry winter, get me :)), but my wardrobe is looking a bit sparse for summer. I have had lots of creams/stone/beige which I can now see aren't great for me. I don't have much money to get more stuff, so I'll be watching this thread with interest.

Hi fellow winters, good to hear from you. I've gone through my wardrobe and although what I have isn't too bad, I can see that I have muted shades of blue/green/purple rather than the vibrant jewel tones. I was convinced i was a summer as I'm blonde hence why I've always bought muted stuff.

Going shopping tomorrow so will report back if I buy anything. I have a vague idea of what I want but I'm just going to mainly see what I can find in my colours.

You're going shopping without me!

(are you going to buy new lipstick?)

QueenCadbury · 21/04/2013 19:45

queen I'd hardly call it shopping when I have a 22m old in tow! I've mainly got to take some stuff back and will have a look around. Haven't found much online so far to inspire me. Will pm you to arrange a date.

And no, I'm not buying a new lippy. Dh will just have to get used to me looking like an old lady Grin

So glad I've seen this thread-had mine done last week & I'm a winter jewel so emerald, navy, carmine, lobelia.

Have also done the wardrobe clear out but I'm struggling to make 3 colours work together.

Will have to take a 23 month old shopping with me so it won't be easy.

Can we have some lipstick recommendations?

I got some HoC lipsticks from the woman who colour analysed me, and I think they're great, the colours last a really long time so I don't need to keep reapplying them. The one I use most is 512, a slightly dark red, but I also have a brighter red, and a really bright pink, which when I saw it, I thought it wasn't me, but it works when it is on (makes my eyes brighter, and the lipstick somehow doesn't seem as bright).

Like abouttime says, I struggle to do three colours together I don't have enough clothes , but I tend to use a neutral (black, charcoal grey) and one of my better colours (emerald green, scarlet) as a top.

I spent far too much time last night putting together a Pinterest board winter colour palette. I just love the colours so much!

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your colours done? How did you find a consultant (if that's the right term?)

I love your Winter colour board QueenCadbury!

I had my colours done recently too and am also a Winter - my best colours are pretty much the same as yours, but I don't remember being called a 'sprinter winter'. What is that, a winter with spring elements? Do you have dark hair, dark eyes and very pale skin (like me)?

Practicality my favourite lipsticks are: Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet (deep red) and Berry Smoothie (medium dark pink), Chanel Coco Shine Romance (barbie pink but looks really natural on a Winter), Chanel Coco Shine in Fiction (blue-toned pomegranate).

And on the whole combining three colours thing...I don't actually think that looks very good. I much prefer just two colours together, or maximum three if two of those are neutrals (eg today I'm wearing grey skinny jeans with an indigo jumper and black shoes).

Er sorry, I've just remembered you are blonde OP...maybe that's why you're a sprinter and I'm not :) I did read the thread, I just forgot!

I am a Winter as well and recently bought this - never owned a green thing in life and was complimented on this - wore it with red lipstick - Bobbi Brown Red Carpet and purple shoes .. really liked it so looking for more green - I do get a lot of stuff from this site - the reds are usually very good Emerald Green Dress

I'm another winter- want at all sure about consultant's verdict so went back again- still borderline winter-summer but just edging to winter. I'm wearing a lot of raspberry, grey and white atm. The Canadian 12 blueprints site has good advice re combinations of colours but their categories don't match HoC, i.e. I'm probably a true summer in their system.
Lipsticks- boots no 7 bb lips in berry rose, clinique chubby stuck in super strawberry, bourjois rouge edition in violine strass (my current favourite) & fuchsia graffiti.

Well I managed a fair amount of shopping considering I had a toddler in tow although quite a lot is going back as seeing them in the true light at home they're not quite the right colour and/or don't mix in with my wardrobe like I'd hoped.

However the keepers are blue tshirt, pink cardigan which is better than it looks online and pink shoes. Undecided about tee as although the colour is right it needs to be nearer my face. I've also just ordered this Chinese blue scarf.

plathism yes I am blonde so it was a bit of a shock (a very pleasant one though). I was always convinced I was a summer.

The lipstick I bought is the house of colour one in red 499. It's a bit scary though!

penfold I did it with house of colour. If you go to their website you can find a consultant near you. I had mine done in Exeter.

luciani I've got loads of navy in my wardrobe which is why I bought the pink shoes as it's amazing how they lift the whole outfit. I was also after a coloured belt and found an emerald one in next (not online so can't link) but I don't like it at home. Would like a red one (although not to wear with pink shoes at same time!)

All lovely stuff Queen, I think I need to go to DPs for some t-shirts now... I'm after a cobalt blue maxi skirt to wear with a short tshirt if any one sees one on their winter travels :)

Report
QueenCadbury · 23/04/2013 10:25

Didn't see any maxi skirts on my travels but wasn't really looking for bottoms . I meant to say that h&m seemed to have a lot of emerald tops but not the sort that suit me unfortunately. I really rate the tees at DP as they tend to wash well and they're a good cheap way to get used to the new colours. I think shopping will be much easier once winter comes as we'll probably find the true jewel colours then.

Another Winter here Smile
Have been lurking on your thread and thought I should report my indigo and emerald Cable and Gauge knitwear finds in TK Maxx last weekend, perfect colours for me.
I've also recently found a lovely Phase Eight dress in a beautiful purple/ blue, sorry can't link as am on phone, think it was called Martha. There were also a couple of beautiful emerald green dresses but were no good for my fat arse pear shape.

Hi lake, I think I saw those dresses at the weekend whilst shopping with my mum and they are gorgeous colours. Sadly my lifestyle (SAHM) doesn't lend itself well to dresses like that Grin.

Dh still needs convincing about the red lipstick I got from my consultation so I'm just ordering a pink from there, number 62. Will check out the other recommendations too.

This is my new extravagant purchase. I'm really enjoying wearing white. For some reason I always thought that it looked too stark but actually can see that it works.
