Lush bath bombs: I hate them!!

Mil gets them for dc. She means well, but omg I hate the damn thingsHmm

The ones that arrived recently were enormous. Enough for many bath; I assume you are supposed to break bits off.

So we had three humungous crumbling muticoloured Easter egg sized lumps in the bathroom. Where do you keep them? And the smell is enough to make you wheeze.

They immediatley disintergrated into piles of neon multicoloured sherbetty dust which is now all over the bathroom. I was worried it would stain the bath (and dc) strange colours.

I dont understand Lush..it all looks like its been knocked up at the local preschool.

Whats wrong with a nice bottle of Matey??Confused

I can't understand the appeal of Lush either. Everything smells the same and when I walk past a store the acrid aroma makes me wheeze. I was once "treated" to a few bits from there. They smelt rank and they were very drying to my skin.

Agree - ghastly. Hate the smell of the place and the bath bombs are horrendous. But they are still around on the high street so someone must like them, I guess!

Agreed. They are messy and underwhelming.

Are you sure they were bath bombs and not the bubble bars? The bath bombs don't normally crumble easily and are meant to be thrown in whole where they fizz and colour/make the water softer/smell nice, the bubble bars do crumble and you are meant to break a bit off and last for 2-3 baths, create ALOT of bubbles.

I love the stuff! But keep everything in it's packaging and store them in the airing cupboard until I use them. The smell is pretty powerful but isn't as strong once it's in the bath.

I love Lush, I keep the bubble bath bars in an old takeaway plastic tub and bombs in their bag in the bathroom cabinet, don't find them messy but I avoid buying ones with twigs in.

Their skin and haircare products are fabulous for me, far better than stuff you find in Boots.

I hate the way they treat you like their new best friend as soon as you walk through the door. It makes me cringe! I'm too British for it.

I like it and find they are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Binks (love the name by the way) I worked there once, and the cheeriness is prescribed. It doesn't come naturally to me, and I left after a few weeks. I am fine with greeting customers pleasantly and asking if they need any help, but once they say no thanks I feel I should let them browse in peace. We were told to continue trying to sell them things in that situation Hmm

I still love the products and I do shop there for my skincare. The staff in my local shop are lovely.

Oh that whole best friends routine is cringey. I quite like some of their stuff, and I use their henna, but I order online now as I just can't stand going in their shops.

I like yours too!

I thought it must be forced friendship. It is very sweet, but it makes me think twice before going through the door. I feel rude for not wanting to chat about my favourite smells.

Oh and they want to wash your hands with goo and rub creams on you. All very nice, but too forward for the likes of me.

I adore Lush products but like others have said I feel very overwhelmed in their stores.Sometimes I just want to browse and I will eventually buy something, I really don't want to be approached by the sales assistants. As soon as they appear it's time for a sharp exit.

I hate Lush

SiL bought some glittery bath bombs from there for my kids for Christmas. They used one and I confiscated the rest

I can't stand walking past the shop, I can smell it from 50 paces and it makes me sneeze

I love their Dream Cream though

I like Lush but their selling technique is annoying. Was in there once with DH picking up a few bits and one of the sales people approached DH. He said he was just waiting for me and she still tried to get him to buy something. He went and waited outside after that!

This thread had me snorting when I read it first at work. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/1201626-Lush-bath-bomb-and-glitter-trouble

They must realise their technique is bloody irritating? Why do they persist with it?

Helga - I was just thinking about that very thread. Grin

I use their Snow Fairy shower gel because I absolutely love it, but the bath bombs do my nut in!

The most recent one, an Xmas present for the DDs, looked great, didn't smell so strongly - put them both in the bath, dropped it in - exploded with bright green glitter.

Ace. Glittery 10 month old.

It's not irritating to everyone - I like it and feel a bit put out if I get ignored in there, which does happen from time to time. If I don't need any help I just say "I'm fine thanks" and keep browsing, I have never had any of them persist after that.

I always start to sneeze when I go in Lush. Have never been able to spend long enough in there to buy anything. The smell is overwhelming.

It's weird, despite being one of those people who hates the smell of fabric conditioners, detergents, air fresheners and nearly all perfumes, I love the smell of a Lush shop. I have found one or two of the hair products smell too strong to have close to my head though.

YoniOno · 16/04/2013 19:40

They used to do the best shower gel ever, Skinny Dip - it was a two-phase one you shake to mix, and one bit was white chocolate and coconut milk, the other half all orangey essential oils and cinnamon. It was divine.

That sounds, fabulous. They did a limited edition shower gel version of Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds one Christmas, that was my favourite ever shower gel.

I'd love to shop in there but I can't because they're so bloody annoying. I hate being pestered in shops. In mine they persist even if you ask them not to, though. Some branches are worse than others. I must try to find out where the non-pestery branches are!

They come to me in waves. There's first attack girl as I come through the door, then there's follow me around talking to me even though I have earphones in girl, then there's till girl who must advertise an array of goods while serving me. The array of goods includes the thing I'm already buying. I'm buying it already!! Stop selling it to me!
