Big knickers

I wear those hold you in knickers normally if I'm wearing a dress for work. The ones I've got are from M and S and work ok with thick ish pencil dresses/ tea dresses and opaques. I've bought some maxi dresses for my holiday today and naively thought they would be ok as they are quite loose and drapey, but my tummy looks massive in them, and feels weird and wobbly without tights or big knickers holding it in. Sorry if tmi!! So I tried on my hold you in knickers but they don't work either, massive VPL issues. I think I need a different kind of knickers, has anyone got any ideas? I was thinking maybe the ones that are like cycling shorts, but will these be too hot as we will be abroad? Or do I need to just get used to not wearing tights or big knickers with dresses, and hold my tummy in as best I can??

I wear sloggi long leg shorts with my maxis. Stops my thighs rubbing in heat and holds in tummy. Bit hot but can't stand the chaffing otherwise.

I wear the lightest tights I can find or knee length leggings under my long skirts and dresses otherwise I get the dreaded 'chub rub' and my legs are so sore I don't want to walk.

What is chub rub??? I don't think I get that....but I might do!! Cropped leggings might work, not as thick as the spanx type ones. Thanks.

The sloggi shorts aren't actually hold in. They are just cotton long leg shorts. I bought them online.

Peacocks do these fabulous control shorts. They are waist height not rib ticklers. They are not at long as cycling shorts - more men's boxers size. No vpl, good control and yet light. You can get them in black/natural and they wear really well-no riding up.

Forgot to add they deal with the thigh rub.

Another thing worth while is a maxi slip. I bought this one here you can wear it bandeau style but I wear mine on the waist as it helps with the stomach issue as it has a reinforcing wide band that runs from waist to hip.

I second the maxi slip from next and you don't get too hot like you would in shorts or leggings.
