Where is good for flat shoes (not ballet pumps or sandals)?

I am pregnant and need some flats for a conference next week where I'll be on my feet a fair bit. I don't wear flats and have no idea where to start... They would be worn with shift dresses and tights. I always think ballet pumps look a bit flimsy and i don't want things like bows on them. Or maybe low heels or low wedges would do? Confused Help please!

Clarks?

What about brogues or loafers? You can get patent as well as regular leather. They look smart but also fashionable.

Thanks Candlestick, I haven't been to clarks for years--will take a look online. Brogues might be nice

Gabor - ok they are for the older lady normally but super comfortable. They have non flimsy ballet style shoes.

M&S foot glove range may have something not too geriatric too

I found hush puppies comfortable when pregnant.

I would recommend brogues too, they can be mannish, colorful, patent, pony skin, or woven for different looks.

And they look lovely with tights. I've seen some nice ones in Aldo, Dune and River Island.

I wear Clarks for work.. Comfy and way less frumpy than they used to be. In between a few horrors are some decent ones..

Some brogue shoes at J Shoes. Not cheap though (£110) but it depends on your budget...

Thanks so much, really appreciate the suggestions. I like the idea of brogues very much, so will look online for those specifically. clarks had some pink ones which looked fun.
Thanks for the links, the J shoes ones are really smart, and Shopafrolic the snakeskin flats are great.
Right, feeling far less lost now, thank you Flowers

I am a flat shoe fan and buy from Russell and Bromley ,LK Bennett, and sometimes Hobbs, Geox, and Boden.

Not a Clarks fan!

Thanks for the code, mirpuppet, and the new suggestions polyhymnia--have an R&B and Hobbs locally but not heard of Geox

Geox are Italian - I first discovered them there and France.

They are super comfortable and some are pretty stylish too - as with most brands you have to pick and choose.

They do now have a few shops here, mostly in London I think. They have quite a few nice styles in lots of colours at the moment in the Covent Garden shop. They do have a website but, annoyingly, don't put everything on it.

John Lewis also stock a few but seem to only choose the most dreary, frumpy styles for some bizarre reason. So if I'd only seen them on there wouldn't dream of buying.
