Anyone want to help me find a dress as a wedding guest?

I need help!

I've got 2 weddings this year and I want some fab frocks for them. One is in a hot climate in the height of summer, one is north west England in autumn. Different friendship groups so could be one dress with different accessories (for the benefit of the inevitable FB photos)

I'm 5'2", size 16, decent norkage. Love big high heels, so not too short a skirt as thered be bottom on show when I wobble. Prefer flared skirts as I have big rugby player thighs. Prefer not strapless.

Budget - there isn't one. Preferably less than a grand. If its right, then I'll spend the money. I'd prefer cheaper than that, so I can blow loads of money on shoes Gina fetish

So, any ideas?

Thank you Grin

BHS(bear with me I KNOW that BHS probably conjures up terrible images)
I was in oxford street two weeks ago and we were walking through when I saw the most beautiful dress. Red with white spots - very nice for those with generous boobs and a flared out slightly netted skirt - very 50's.
They also had a fab 'little' cardigan in black which keeps the chill off. I wore it to a spit roast two weeks ago and got loads of compliments - really cute and very comfy too.
Good luck.
(costs about £80 with cardigan....)

Ooooh thanks Harley and tethers! Harley, that dress sounds just like what I usually wear - will investigate! Will see if they've got it in stock here so I can try on properly (I'm currently in Abu Dhabi, but am back in the UK in 2 weeks time for trying on and delivery)

I've never used the outnet before tethers, I dunno why. I'll do some measurements tonight. Have you tried their returns policy out if they don't fit right?

Ooh how lovely. Someone short and voluptuous like me with a decent budget! Hurrah! It's like fantasy shopping for myself. Grin

I got a dress for a wedding from an independent shop in Brighton called Get Cutie- the dresses are fantastic, beautiful colourful fabrics and they use 1950s style dress patterns. I think they are really flattering on real curvy women especially as they do different cup sizes as well as standard sizes. They are handmade in the UK so also give you a warm glow of something British- made and ethical. They were really helpful getting sizing right when I took my measurements and spoke to them over the phone. I bought two different sizes and sent one back in the end so I knew one would fit- as they are quite fitted around the waist and do not have much stretch. I get lots of nice comments at the wedding and it was easy to accessorise.

I love the idea of going property british. The other wedding is in the US - an English mate marrying an American bride and there'll be about 12 brits there at most so I want to show my national pride. Am currently nosying around that site too MrsJasmin, thanks!

Sorry, I posted that knowing full well I had a full day's travelling ahead of me without the internet so I couldn't even do it anyway! Will have a look when I am less jet-lagged. Grin
