For goodness sake woman, wear what you bloody like! Why on earth would you stop wearing something you like just because you have reached a certain age?

MrsCampbellBlack Mon 08-Apr-13 21:54:59

You can totally wear converse or the lookalikes that are everywhere.

Wedge trainers are now everywhere too or how about ballet pumps/slipper type shoes that are also in all the shops now?

Oh and TSC I read your hospital thread and your description of how you looked made me actually properly laugh. Hope your DS has had a better day.

BellaVita Mon 08-Apr-13 21:56:22

Is DS in hospital TSC? Hope he is on the mend soon x

Wedge trainers...flat ankle trainers with lots of straps across (KG sometimes do them )

If you have a TKMaxx near you go and see what they have to offer. I am mid 40s and get all my footwear there and it is generally of the more casual type. I recently bought a fab pair of trainers in green and yellow, no idea of the make, but they were a bargainous £16 and I don't feel too old for them.
They had a massive selection of canvas pumps and loads of Birkenstocks too.

MrsCampbellBlack Mon 08-Apr-13 21:58:48

Or superga?

I do think superga are nice and for some reason seem a little more grown up than converse. I do think though you could definitely still wear converse but get you don't want to wear the same as your children.

MyCatsRule Mon 08-Apr-13 22:04:55

I am 40 and I love superstars! Get new ones!!

medaiwhore Mon 08-Apr-13 22:05:11

what are 'shell toes'? confused

MrsCampbellBlack Mon 08-Apr-13 22:05:37

And then you'd look just like this

BellaVita Mon 08-Apr-13 22:06:00

You are tall? shock I always thought you were a short arse like me! grin

nellyjelly Mon 08-Apr-13 22:06:18

Superga are nice. More comfy than Converse though have both. Also some retro Adidas in blue suede. I am knocking on 50 and feel I should give the hoody, retro trainer thing a miss now. I look like an aged student. I just can't find a style I like though.

nellyjelly Mon 08-Apr-13 22:08:28

Btw you can still get Palladium shoes and boots.

medaiwhore Mon 08-Apr-13 22:10:19

I am having the same dilemma- spent a good couple of hours on the interweb looking for footwear today - found trainers i liked , ordered them, waited for DD to get home to buy her some converse (20% off if I spent over £50) - went to check out and mistakenly pressed the back button

bingo - some other feker had bought the trainers i wanted

now i just can't be arsed sad

ChippingInIsEggceptional Mon 08-Apr-13 22:11:13

WTF are shell toes??

... and stop being such a daft cow - of course you can wear trainers!! grin

Now look what you've done - you've made me post on a S&B thread FFS.

CuttedUpPear Mon 08-Apr-13 22:14:07

I am 47 and I wear trainers all the time. Got some great red ones from Lands End recently and I can't wait to wear them all summer!
