work experience - suit or smart casual

ds off to London tomorrow for 2 weeks work experience at The Guardian. He has no idea if its a suit environment or smart casual. None of the correspondence seems to give any clues. I haven't a clue either. Any advice on what he should wear?

It's easier to dress-down from too-smart than v.v.
DS wore a suit (which he wears for school) and smart shirt. Dress down by removing jacket; smarten up by putting on the tie that is hiding in jacket pocket.
I'm guessing that the Grauniad office is fairly casual but you never know which external parties you are going to meet/interview and need to impress/not offend. Be prepared!
Good luck to him.

If its for journalism experience then smart casual.

If its design/It based then jeans and smart shirt.

He's a literary boffin so chose the Books dept. He's going to go for smart casual with a tie in his pocket. Thanks both of you

Better to be over-dressed than under-dressed.

Hope he has a brilliant experience!

He decided to wear his tie rather than roll it up in his pocket and went off looking quite dapper.
