I feel very shallow posting this, as I know I should have some sort of insightful political comment to make...but did anyone watch the Boris Johnson documentary last night, and if so, isn't his sister's hair great? She looked like she had fab, thick hair anyway, but just wondered if it would be an easy style to achieve/maintain?

DontmindifIdo Tue 26-Mar-13 14:48:18

oh, I agree about her hair, but then rather like her brother, she looks like she's got about 4 times as many strands of hair as a normal person. On a bloke that just gives crazy hair, on her it just gave the best thick lush hair.

(I rather think it's pity she's always just seen as BoJo's sister)

Agh, now I feel even more ignorant!!! <in my defence, this is S&B ;)>

I was interested in her hair too!

I have vaguely similar hair to her, although not as nice! It's pretty easy to maintain, although once it needs a cut then it's a bit of a there are a lot of layers.

I do have thick hair, and lots of it. However, like her, I have highlights which seem to make my hair fuller too which helps.

Products wise I use Tigi Blow out balm which is brilliant for volume. I swear by my Parlux hairdryer and BBH. Takes about 10 mins to do from wet.

Even my husband (the most unobservant person ever) commented on her great hair! grin

My hair is thick, but never has volume

Pootles2010 Tue 26-Mar-13 15:39:52

Oh yes I noticed too, esp as looking for new ideas for haircut... will my hairdresser think me a loon if i take a photo of her in? He will, won't he?

Is it quite easy to style on a morning midnight? I'm a bit cack-handed - fear I may end up looking like him rather than her.

midnightinmoscow Tue 26-Mar-13 15:42:06

Seriously the BBH will give you volume.

Have hear good reports about this stuff too.

I think that sort of hair is in the genes, not the styling.

AuntieStella Tue 26-Mar-13 21:53:20

She's on BBC4 right now (programme about being a lady).

I think she looks great - but would that heavy fringe and all those layers work on anything but fairly thick hair?

HazeltheMcWitch Tue 26-Mar-13 21:54:53

It's genetic. Look at her dad - he has TheHair also.
And all her brothers have it.

Hmm I watched the Lady programme last night (well, the first half anyway) and spent most of the time thinking her hair looked incredibly dated and early 80s. Middle parting, flicked back fringe, sort of flattish. She does have naturally very nice hair and it could look really chic, but it just seemed to me like she's had the same hairstyle since she was 18 and hasn't realised how much of a style rut she's in. Considering how much attention she puts on S&B stuff in her books, I was a bit disappointed at how unstylish she looked, actually. (I could also be jealous that she's in her 40s and maintained a sharp youthful jawline and unlined face, admittedly).

Oh! I did not know she was BoJo's sister! So, DontmindifIdo at least one person doesn't just think of her as his sister smile I've just seen a picture of her daughter Charlotte, who also has great hair.

catinboots Wed 27-Mar-13 15:25:20

She's got good hair but she needs a decent cut.

All those layers make her look like an Afghan Hound.

Or a 70s pornstar.

Lottapianos Wed 27-Mar-13 15:31:56

She does have lovely hair but thought that her fringe was a bit heavy. I thought she was very attractive and stylish actually, and seemed like good fun. I could even forgive her her absolutely ghastly brother wink

MrsSchadenfreude Wed 27-Mar-13 16:46:12

It's very 80s hair (particularly with that centre parting), slightly crossed with the Woman Over 40's Standard Haircut. Which is nothing like mine. Oh no.

irisblue Thu 28-Mar-13 19:08:49

So funny. I was thinking exactly the same thing. I loved the cut and colour, but my sad limp locks wouldn't be able to pull it off...:-(

Mumelie Thu 28-Mar-13 21:41:27

Agree it's lovely thick hair but an old fashioned style.

LittleEdie Fri 29-Mar-13 12:56:42

It looked better in the Boris doc than the Lady programme. The difference a really good blow dry can make I think.

BagWoman Fri 29-Mar-13 15:32:16

she has had the same hairstyle since she was 4- judging from the film clippings.

Her fringe is too long and makes it look as if she is trying to be 'cool' hiding behind it- a bit like some 6th form girls do.

She is terribly posh and has had a very privileged background, and been very lucky n her career- but doesn't have a wonderful track record if you scrutinise it.

Getting those "columnist" jobs is normally about who you have married/ what family connections you have ime not about journalistic talent

noddyholder Fri 29-Mar-13 18:18:22

I like it cool in a retro way

armagh Fri 29-Mar-13 19:43:34
