Help! Summer pregnancy wear?!

Hi all,
I'm 14wks pregnant and I'm just getting my head around the fact that I'm going to be heavily pregnant in the summer. I am a naturally "warm" person, I am always wearing less layers than everyone else, I get hot quicker than other people and go from an ok temperature to overheating quick as a flash! I'm not overweight and have no medical conditions that might cause this.

I'm really worried about what I'm going to wear during the height of pregnancy and summer to keep myself cool, sweet smelling and sweat-patch free.

Any advice welcome as the only pregnancy clothes I can see around are long sleeved (or even just short sleeved), thick fabric or pale (show sweat) colours and it's worrying me a bit!

I also need to keep it smart-casual for work, I also travel by public transport and walk to get to my office and appointments so it needs to be practical and comfy too. Nightmare!

I think if you give it a few more weeks, there will be more summer stuff in the shops, and the sleeves will go.

Maternity work wear at our place is definitely allowed to not be quite as smart as usual!

How much is your budget?

New Look, Dorethy Perkins and ASDA were my basics, topped up with Next, and very occasional Jojomamanbebe.
Topshop also do a range, as do Matalan M&S and mothercare, I think. Well, I know Mothercare do!!! As do mamas and Papas.
Serephine and Isabella Oliver is supposed to be very nice.

nextphase that's lovely, thanks for that! Not sure I knew that New Look did maternity clothes. This dress is great being sleeveless and I think it will look really nice on (plus a respectable length for work)

I am borrowing some things from friends,so I don't mind spending a little on some key pieces to keep myself cool on the warmer days! I love Seraphine and not as expensive as I thought they would be so hopefully there's a few things I could grab from there once the summer styles come in.

I've got some ugly practical walking sandles which are lovely and cool for summer and very comfortable too, so as long as they don't look too silly with nice dresses I hope I'll be ok!

I'm a warm person too and hate overheating. I wore this pretty much constantly when pregnant last year. Work, day, evening, all the time. I only got the warm weather in March/April though as gave birth end of April.

A friend of mine was pg throughout the summer and bought a simple black cotton sundress in a much bigger size. Looked great and worked really well.

H&M do some great summer maternity clothes too. I got some fab shorts last year which I wore in Greece when it was 42deg.

Asos do lots of lovely maternity stuff including French connection maternity range which you can't get in their shops.

I was working in summer heavily pregnant and my uniform was a knee length dress and a floaty or wrap cardigan, and flat breathable shoes three sizes bigger than usual

Jump I'm yet to throw up on the commute so far, just either end! Manage to keep it in sometimes, but god knows how! I hope that by the time it gets really warm I'll be over the sickness (yeah right!!)

I'm not much of a dresses person as I tend to ride a bike a lot (plus hot sweaty thighs sticking together= ugh!)... but will definitely try them a bit more this year I think!

I was pg last summer and wore lots of pyjama style printed trousers and vests or t shirts from Gap. Their Pure range is great for staying cool but not maternity so size up. Most of my trousers were from H&M, Zara and the like and had elasticated waists so fitted under my bump and grew with me (they were no maternity too) You can put a slim fitting jacket on top if necessary.

H&M do good maternity wear. I had some nice under bump linen trousers which looked quite smart. (Wore them for a wedding.) Maxi dresses might be a good bet as you could wear those immediately after the birth as well?

With each pg I wore less and less maternity clothes and more and more normal clothes in bigger sizes. In any case the really big maternity stuff only fitted me for the last 10 weeks or so - before that it looked really silly lol. Anything stretchy is worth a try, ditto empire line.

After my first pg I wished I'd bought a few (non maternity) things that fitted about now (ie 14 weeks) as that was the right size for a little while after giving birth.

I also found a few nice accessories - necklaces and scarfs say - great for giving a bit more interest to maternity clothes.

Bth sound like a good plan. I'm definitely going to investigate dresses- I've been wearing dresses/leggings more in the winter than previously as my trousers are starting to get uncomfy, however I'll have to get some maternity tights/leggings soon. I'm not too bumpy yet as I've been pretty sick since 5 weeks, so lost a reasonable amount of weight.

Start trawling eBay too, I had some great bargains from there!

I've been doing ebay but I'm too cheap to spent a tenner on something second hand that was only £15 brand new! I am yet to find any decent bargains!

Conversely, if you spend out a bit on Isabella Oliver or Seraphine, you can sell them on Ebay afterwards for close to what you paid, especially if you stock up in the IO sale.

Have a look at Jojomamanbebe, they do great pg clothes all year round, and resell well on eBay. They cater for all occassions too, work, casual, formal, nightwear, underwear.
