I am an avid reader of this thread. It has been so interesting.... I'm still trying to find a decent sized decant of Premier Figiuer Extreme.... If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful. I'm looking for at least 10ml. Ideally I would have a Fb but I think I'm too poor.

I have some Prada Infusion d'Iris - I find it an interesting scent, but not something I can describe easily, apart from an earthy powderiness but not as carrotty and mercurially cold as Iris Silver Mist.
I didn't like it really at first but have kept sampling it over the months and enjoy it now. I really must get a sample of Hermes Hiris to compare as that keeps coming up in comparisons with I d'I.

pocketandsweet how about starting a thread on basenotes.net forum and asking? someone may just come through for you

Have been clearing out a drawer (copying fashion frugals, moi?) and came across almost forgotten bottle of Caron's 'Nocturnes'. Arrgh! I know I liked it last year, but this year, very, very definitely NOT. Starts off light and elegant floral-citrus but the middle tuberose element now seems overpowering. The hint of powder and sweet woods underneath still rather pleasant, however.

As well as a couple of scarves from said drawer going to charity-shop bag, this scent is going out, too. Any takers? Free to a good home....

Am off to bathroom to scrub Nocturnes-scented wrist... then will clear scent memory with a blast of Guerlain's Eau de Cologne Imperiale.

Shoe thanks for the new thread!

Pocket no PF on Crystal Flacon. L'A have good sales once or twice a year, worth following, many of their offerings are ridiculously cheap at sales time.

SOTD Défilé New York by HdP. A green gourmand, springlike with a slight bitter tinge. Have some cherry flowers in a vase, their scent is green too with a lot of honey.

If no one else is interested in the Nocturnes I would be. I used to wear it waaaaay back and would love to smell it again. I'm afraid I have nothing to offer except for large sample size of Eau Dynamisme ( which my husband refers to as smelling like a "barbershop")!

Thanks for the PF info by the way... I shall continue to stalk their website and also ebay and base notes. Just how good are their sales? I am having a small infatuation with Traversee as well, although again my husband hates it.... he really is starting to get in the way. ;).

florascotia I've got a bottle of Lolita Lempicka Fleur Defendue I could swap you for the Nocturnes if you are interested?

Well helloooo new thread!

Part 4, and still going strong - who'd have thunk it? Smile

SOTD is Caron Secret Oud. Woody, slightly civet-y......I'm so-so about it.

Someone take my Coromandel and love it like it should be loved? I've had three sprays from a 15ml bottle (that'll learn me!) Just let me know and I'll send it to you. Sad. SOTD is Shalimar. Used to be one of my absolute favourites, but after experiencing the clean Tom Ford Oud's, it's too cloying. Only one or two sprays left and it's going in the linen cupboard. I've got lots of old bottles in the linen cupboard - a bit like the old vampire lovers in the attic in The Hunger.

Hi Pocket, Hi Kiwi (hope you're getting on well). How would it be if I divided the Nocturnes bottle between you??? It was originally 100 ml; there's probably about 80 ml left. I have another perfume bottle which is very nearly empty (it originally had traditional old JeanMarie Farina Eau de Cologne in it - that is very light and faint in comparison with Nocturnes). If I rinse it out with boiling water, that should remove all traces of the former scent. If this plan sounds OK with you, please kindly PM me with addresses to send.

No swaps needed - I am trying to de-clutter!! - but thank you very much indeed for your kind offers.

This morning brought a little bundle of joy - perfume samples! - from florascotia. My first opportunity to practise being a perfumista Grin

Having read lots of posts about Bal à Versailles in the last thread, I've started with that one. I didn't realise it was a classic! Apparently Liz Taylor wore it while filming Anthony & Cleopatra. The image that popped into my mind on first sniff, however, has little to do with power & seduction - well, not that kind of power, anyway: I thought of a fairground!

I'm pretty sure the fragrance isn't all about diesel, engine oil and sugar?! Maybe I've associated it with a childhood fairground visit somehow ... but I keep getting that image! Anyway, I found it heavy - in a good way - to begin with; lots of rose, neroli and perhaps patchouli over leather and resin. Well, I thought of pine trees but not 'pine' scent, so I assume that's resin

After about half an hour I went off it a bit, as it seemed to be all about oranges and little else but, two hours on, I'm liking it. It's settled to quite a strong neroli mix (this might be me - I make most perfumes smell of orange), very sweet and a bit mouldy, like honeysuckle or pot pourri - on a sturdy background of something spicy and woody. It feels robust, which I like in a fragrance, and could also be worn by a man if he's masculine enough to carry it.

... I've just gone slightly weak at the knees thinking of a man with the sexual confidence to wear this slightly rotting, spicy, subtly challenging perfume!

Am delighted that you like the samples, Garlic, but they weren't from me.
I sent some Coriandre last week, but not Bal a Versailles. If the Coriandre hasn't arrived, let me know and I'll chase the post office.

I really liked your description of Bal a Versailles. It's a scent I admire, but it's the favourite of an old friend so I don't wear it myself. I feel it's 'hers', not mine.

I'm still being braced by brisk and crisp Eau de Cologne today. By that and by the bitterly cold strong wind outside....

That would be brilliant florascotia.... I will pm you my address. I am so curious to smell it again after not wearing it for so many years.

Meanwhile if anyone wants the 15ml Eau Dynamisante I would be happy to send that to anyone who wants to try it ( or would be useful for travelling if you already wear it). I also have a tiny (maybe 2-3 ml) sample of Coco Mademoiselle ( in an adorable miniature bottle) if that would be appealing to anyone. Ladame I would love to try your Coromandel BUT don't want to appear greedy ;)

I also have a full bottle of Korres White Tea, Bergamot and Freesia which my husband bought me when he was in Greece. It's a J-C Ellena and so light and transparent that it could be someone's perfect scent for such circumstances. I like it but not love and therefore it will not get worn ...... It was not terribly expensive but I ŵould love to swap it for something green or citrus or well I'm open to ideas.

I would love to take the Coco Mademoiselle sample and the Eau Dynamisante if you still have them pocketandsweet. I love the Coco stuff, I just can't afford any right now Sad

The perfume must have gone to my head Blush

Thanks florascotia and ladame.... This is my lucky day.
Send me your address onelittlelady and the coco mademoiselle and ED will be coming your way. Also remembered I have a bottle of the famous/infamous Lidl Madame Suddenly ( which I think is a CM dupe). I can send this too ( but won't be insulted if you say no thank you).

I am wearing Eau d'Ivoire today. For an "eau" it is incredibly long lasting - when DD came home at 6, she immediately asked me what it was, and I hadn't touched up since I put it on this morning. It's nice, quite light, but not as good as the old Ivoire. There is none of the sweatiness about it; it's sweeter - do I get lily of the valley? It starts off quite floral, but ends up almost woody.

I have finished my bottle of Mona di Orio's "Lux". I liked it when I first got it, but it just smells like sherbet lemons or lemon cheesecake to me now.

Have worn Rose Etoile d'Hollande by Mona di Orio today. Too ladylike on me - but if anyone loves vintagey makeup/ face powder fragrances, this might be just the thing.

thanks so much florascotia and pocketandsweet for sharing. Looking forward to trying the Nocturne

I have Montaigne on today, first time I've been well enough since operation so its a real step forward in recovery. DH noticed too and passed comment about me getting back to normal!
I'm doing remarkably well - thank goodness for modern medicine and keyhole operations!

I'm on the hunt for someting but I'm not sure what. I love florals, they are the scents that smell best on my skin but I want something a little more....grown up. My usual go to scent for special occasions is Chanel Chance Eau Tendre. I love it but I want something a little more sophisticated I suppose. I love the following: Flowerbomb, Paul Smith Rose, the Chanel as mentioned and Armani Code. Can any one suggest something for me to try along those lines? No particular price range as I'll be getting whatever I choose as a gift.

Evening ladies!

MrsSchadenfreude I've seen what looks like the old style bottle of Ivoire going on ebay for about £21 if you're still looking for it Smile

Frugal Etoile d'Hollande sounds like my kind of thing, will add it my sample list!

Kiwi glad to hear you're on the mend.

I have managed to get my hands on some Les Exclusifs samples and have been wearing Coromandel today....Definitely a 'wow' perfume. It's ended up blending very beautifully with my skin, subtle now but still very distinctive. Also have Sycomore and Bel Respiro to look forward to. After this I really must resist buying any more new samples and use up what I have as the box I keep them in is full

I had Gelsomino Nobile, Aqua di Parma.
Found a sample when clearing out dressing table.
Very pretty soft jasmine, sweet and green, not at all indolic, cut with some honeysuckle.
Pretty but boring.
Lasts and lasts - sprayed some in the morning, can still smell it.
