Flicking through Grazia which arrived today because my ex-boyfriend has clearly not realised he's still paying the subscription which just renewed.

WTF is 'a knit'? Is it a jumper? A cardi? A sleeveless top? Or is the only thing that matters the fact that it was 'a Celine knit'?

While I'm on the subject, what is 'a trouser'?? Just one leg?

JumpHerWho Wed 20-Feb-13 11:47:31

If 'skinny jeans' were rebranded 'tight jeans' sales would drop dramatically.

specialsubject Wed 20-Feb-13 11:59:29

what is a 'piece'?

what is a 'twist'?

what is a 'look?'

why do models have to do that silly walk?

so many mysteries. All such a waste of time when I cannot find the practical, comfortable clothes that I want anywhere!!

what about investment pieces?
You know the ones magazines bombard you with every week season.

I mean they are not that a good investment if you have to re-invest all the time, are they?

101handbags Wed 20-Feb-13 12:36:30

I always laugh when they reel off a model's CV: 'walked for Celine, Stella McCartney and Chanel'. Not appeared in the catwalk show. Oh no.

MadameWattinger Wed 20-Feb-13 12:36:54

'on trend'

101handbags Wed 20-Feb-13 12:37:54

'dress up, dress down'
'take it from office to dnner'
'a mixture of high street, vintage and designer'

RemoteOutpost Wed 20-Feb-13 12:45:11

Okay, someone had to do it - I give you from the Boden site:

'transition from work to play in this bright silky tee'

'don't bother to change your t-shirt before going out after work'

ThenWeTakeBerlin Wed 20-Feb-13 12:46:51

Bang on trend <twitchy eye>

JumpHerWho Wed 20-Feb-13 12:47:25

Yy - who are all these people who want to go straight from work to a night out without changing? And without re-applying deodorant or make-up according to beauty companies? Skanks.

MechanicalTheatre Wed 20-Feb-13 12:51:55

"on trend"

Just fuck off.

ClaudiaCutie Wed 20-Feb-13 12:52:13

What drives me mad: A "playful" garment, when it's merely some item that looks bloody stupid.

Still, I'm so dim that I didn't realise one could subscribe to Grazia. I just had a look online and a yearly subscription for print only is £30 and print + digital is £40. FGS! I couldn't sign up fast enough. Treat every week! Have to add this to HUGE list of S&B-induced spending however (which is, of course, a whole other thread).

RemoteOutpost Wed 20-Feb-13 12:52:54

Jump - I think those people are the ones who 'transition' straight from work into the pub for the evening. Lucky feckers envy

QueenBee245 Wed 20-Feb-13 13:01:48

I hate the word 'vintage' it second-hand Fgs
Also 'wardrobe staple' 'über-anything'
Also when things are referred to as retro....everything comes back into fashion ie animal print clothing is splashed across fashion magazines EVErY SINGLE YEAR!!

QueenBee245 Wed 20-Feb-13 13:02:35

And 'flattering hues' we are all bloody different so how can it flatter everyone!?

Lavenderhoney Wed 20-Feb-13 13:13:29

My pet hate at the moment is the "pop of colour"

And "statement" anything.

I don't get the ' knit' thing either. Unless paying 200 quid for a cardi doesn't sound as 'luxe'as paying 200 quid for a knit.

I'm waiting for someone to snap at me 'it's a knit" when i say " nice cardi"

bequiasweet Wed 20-Feb-13 13:14:18

Today, I am mostly rocking a pair of pants, a pair of socks, a bra, a top, a pair of jeans and some boots. I like to call it 'wearing clothes'.

bequiasweet Wed 20-Feb-13 13:16:07

Oh, and do look at this headline from Yahoo news today!

"Ashish collection inspired by building site style with added sparkle at LFW AW13"

wtf? confused

MoodyDidIt Wed 20-Feb-13 13:31:41

oh i love grazia but the horribly pretentious fashion speak is cringeworthy grin

101handbags Wed 20-Feb-13 13:44:56

Anyone 'channelling' anything today? Oh I could go on... Sunday Times Style magazine is good (bad?) at all of this crap too.

QueenBee245 Wed 20-Feb-13 13:44:56

bequia I believe the fashion term is you are rocking a pant, a bra, a sock, a tee and a pant apparently no plurals are allowed in the fashion world

Mendi Wed 20-Feb-13 13:45:05

I've just been out in my lunchtime and inspected 'this week's drop' in Top Shop.

Does a stork fly over and literally drop the clothes into the shop?

QueenBee245 Wed 20-Feb-13 13:46:45

I am 'channeling' street chic with a 'messy up do' (hairs shoved in a booble)

QueenBee245 Wed 20-Feb-13 13:47:31

A booble!? That's meant to say bobble maybe booble should be the new fashion term

bequiasweet Wed 20-Feb-13 14:05:50

101 - apparently I'm channelling a monk, according to my 10 y.o. dd when she saw my new haircut.
Yes Queen Bee, I stand corrected. I am wearing a pant.
