But her clothes just don't do it for me anymore sad I thought it was a phase, but it's now ages since I thought "wow! I love that look"... It's all a bit too casual and a tad err messy sad she just seems to have gone off the boil for me...

Has her style changed? or it's it something wrong with me? Should I check into Boden/Per Una???

I love DMBL40 she although her clothes aren't my style I like her manic comic nature , she is brilliant

I like DMB40 too and also have bought a few of her more affordable clothes despite our figures and heights being polar opposite.

I love DMBL40. A lot of her stuff is way out of my price range, and there are posts I skip completely (designer bags, occasion dresses and so on), but I like her "voice" and have bought quite a few bits after seeing her wearing or recommending them.

Is she? Fabulous - thank you smile

Noddy is on Twitter, Flo. Still talking clothes!

Floisme Sun 16-Jul-17 11:06:19

Oh I read the first few posts and thought for a minute Noddyholder was back sad

You have to use Instagram via the mobile app to see stories.

Interesting to read this thread back, four years ago pp were berating bum40 for posting the same clothes over and over and how it was hard for a blogger to be different with only their own wardrobe.

Nowadays, its her full time job, there's hardly an outfit worn twice, and every single one is sponsored or has been provided by one of her affiliates. How many floral print dresses and skirts does one women need!

But yes, her stories are funny.

How do you se someone's instant stories? I'm not on imstagram but can see most people's main imstagram accounts but not Insta stories - how do I see them?

Glamorousglitter Sun 16-Jul-17 06:29:36

Love DMB 40 and her insta stories are almost a daily fix ! Her style is quite similar to mine, I like how she puts things together so I continued to follow her !
Agree it s difficult for a real person to have insanely different outfits everyday so I LOVE the fact she wears her stuff in lots of different ways and colours and seems normal and real and when I m putting on a top I have for 5 years wondering if it s old hat I like to think j can wear it well as a classic piece, I think she does too.

What's a style blog for ordinary working parents ? Ideally one for dumpy short and curvy people?
Is there such a thing?

BecauseIsaidS0 Sun 20-Jul-14 10:52:25

TBH, I have fashion blog exhaustion right now and I'm feeling a bit "have seen it all". I still look into Atlantic-Pacific because it's a bit of a fantasy blog for me (as Amber mentioned, given bazillions of clothes so that she can always find the perfect item to combine with other and the best accessories - meanwhile, I have to choose between my five pairs of jeans and seven t-shirts grin).

I might go back the path of finding a really, really good personal shopper as I used to do in my country of birth. She knew what I liked and more importantly, what suited me so in half an hour I could do a lot of damage to my credit card!

Dry I like her writing style- witty and self deprecating in an engaging way- she makes me laugh too.
It isn't easy for any blogger to engage us and overall she does a good job
Was probably a bit harsh in my previous post and just wanted to vent some frustration, just felt unduly irritated as she has a great figure and the poses (ironic or otherwise) detract from it smile

Drywhiteplease Sun 20-Jul-14 09:09:39

Merriboo why don't you just stop reading the blog? confused

Although I suspect a lot of her poses are ironic. She makes me laugh. Still haven't recovered from her outfit to visit a farm a couple of summers ago, and her summer-long rant at the rain .........a very funny lady.

Merriboo Sat 19-Jul-14 22:48:58

sorry to resurrect an old thread, but ARGHHH. I want to scream at the awkward, self deprecating, aww shucks, little girl poses!!!DLMB40- stop it!! the hunched, round shoulders/hands on hip or in pockets/sunken chest pose makes you look almost deformed and are driving me potty.

todays extreme version

....and breathe.........

I love 40bum precisely BECAUSE of her writing style - its warms and obviously 'her' and honest and enjoyable. She has a lot more money then I but even so is obviously overjoyed by finding a bargain, and I LOVE that she posts pictures from the shop floor and from changing rooms - it makes me feel like I'm there with her (er, but not in a stalkery way!) and because I don't have time to go out hunting and trying things on its lovely to live vicariously through her! More pics from the shop floor! Oooh, I also like it when she posts pics from the promotional material next to 'real life' pics from the shop floor. In short (ha, as if!) I love the depth of her research and her obvious commitment to each post.

I'm a teacher and this post feels a bit like marking a student's work. Two stars and a wish haha!

surely somebody without a vested interest (i.e. not the bloggers themselves) can post links to all these blogs - whenever I Google them, I'm never convinced I've found the right ones... pretty please? wink

rubytutu Tue 19-Feb-13 20:57:41

Mrs CB thanks for the arms tip, have now ordered along with a further 4 items that made their way into my basket! Are you from the worn out blog? If so I am coveting your Zara necklace and fine knitwear!
Can anyone send me a link to Amber's blog?
i like pinterest alot, can spend hours on there.

MimikosPanda Tue 19-Feb-13 20:54:54

I miss thesuburbanstyle, when she got pregnant she just stopped blogging, no 'bye, I'm taking a break' or anything, I missed her!

Just looked though and after a gap from October through to February she has just started blogging again, on Feb 12th.

I like 40 Bum's writing style, agree her outfits are a bit samey but luckily my style is quite similar so I still pick up some ideas. I like to visit blogs like Wendy and AP occasionally for an inspiration splurge, but don't enjoy them on a daily basis.

I do like Amber's blog (and writing style), but won't link it for fear of wrist slapping wink

NotMostPeople Tue 19-Feb-13 20:44:50

I agree that Bum has got a bit samey, but I do still like to read it. I've found myself enjoying Pinterest more than going back to the same blogs I was reading three months ago. I still love Wendy et al but its fantasy fashion.

Mrs CB looks sweet in the padded jacket - I'd look like Bertha Rochester at best.

snoworneahva Tue 19-Feb-13 20:30:28

I preferred this floral jacket

joliejolie Tue 19-Feb-13 15:46:38

I really like Kat's blog, though I am thoroughly perplexed by everyone's interest in that TRF floral quilted jacket. Maybe that's because when I tried it on, I looked like someone's gran!!

MarshaBrady Tue 19-Feb-13 14:47:19

Lucky thing.

I like the one who did this look but can't remember which one it is.

AmberNectarine Tue 19-Feb-13 14:41:55

I love the Blonde Salad. Though, she got gifted a Birkin last week. How can any of us compete with that! smile
