Bought [ this] to wear for night out tomorrow, but I thought it was a dress! Will it be OK with thick black tights or will I look like I've forgotten my trousers?

HyvaPaiva Fri 08-Feb-13 12:55:19

It says that it's a top and she's wearing it with leggings, so just wear it like that. It's lovely!

pictish Fri 08-Feb-13 10:35:41

Great - have a good night! grin

PickledInAPearTree Fri 08-Feb-13 09:21:16

I would wear leggings - with tights if you have to stretch bend down etc you might see the gussets!

With leggings my rule is my arse And a bit must be covered.

Fancy buying in a shop! grin

RibenaFiend Fri 08-Feb-13 08:55:42

Ooooh its lovely!
<makes note to purchase>

Looks fine as a dress to me. As everyone says, black tights. Leggings would dress it down.

Surely you've tried it on?

Fallenangle Thu 07-Feb-13 22:04:19

Have a great night out.

ginmakesitallok Thu 07-Feb-13 22:03:15

Thanks all for saving a fat old woman's blushes.

ginmakesitallok Thu 07-Feb-13 22:01:35

OK one emergency dash to sainsbury's and I have leggings. Can high five till my heart's content.

ProPerformer Thu 07-Feb-13 21:32:57

Ok I'd wear it as a dress with thick tights like leggings (prob like you described op ) or with thick footless tights. However I'm 28 and a size 10 so.... I say if you're confident enough then go for it!

ginmakesitallok Thu 07-Feb-13 21:31:43

grin old fashioned us eh Pictish?

pictish Thu 07-Feb-13 21:30:59

Aye. You can.

ginmakesitallok Thu 07-Feb-13 21:30:57

Mrs mushroom, there wasn't a label in the shop. I didn't buy on line

pictish Thu 07-Feb-13 21:30:00

She bought it in the actual shop!
I know...i was shocked too. I thought I was the only person alive who still did that! grin

ginmakesitallok Thu 07-Feb-13 21:29:53

Can you wear leggings with long black boots?

Delayingtactic Thu 07-Feb-13 21:29:14

Hmm. How far down your thigh is it? I have stupidly long thighs in comparison to the whole of my leg and even dressed that are a respectable length past my bum look short because you can still see a lot of thigh IYSWIM. Also if you can't put your arms above your head can you lean forward without showing the world your knickers?

pictish Thu 07-Feb-13 21:29:13

Leggings or the blackest of black canvas skinnies.

MrsMushroom Thu 07-Feb-13 21:28:53

How dd you mistake it for a dress since the description says "Tunic top" grin

pictish Thu 07-Feb-13 21:28:18

No. I am 37 and a size 18. That is not a dress for me. That is a top.
Wearing anything that stops you putting your hands over your head is a bad move. Even with the thickest of thick tights.
What if you have to sit down opposite someone without a table to hide under? What if you drop something?
What if you have to high five someone??!! grin

Take it from me, you will spend the whole night tugging at your hem and trying not to move.

ooer Thu 07-Feb-13 21:26:57

Why has nobody suggested leggings? Surely Tesco would have?

Or black skinny trousers I suppose.

ginmakesitallok Thu 07-Feb-13 21:25:44

Model is wearing with leggings, I have really thick tights that look like leggings, what's the difference?

ginmakesitallok Thu 07-Feb-13 21:23:45

Bugger. What sort of trousers? Out straight after work, in meetings all day, only chance would be tesco at lunch time.

Fallenangle Thu 07-Feb-13 21:22:59

Ok OP. i agree with thick black tights. I'm still sure you will look great and no one will think you have forgotten your trousers.

bunnymother Thu 07-Feb-13 21:22:43

Can you wear a short, tight black miniskirt under it in case you do need to lift your arms?

pictish Thu 07-Feb-13 21:22:00

Oh I actually shopped in a shop?

Well yeah sorry. It's still a top. You'll need trousers.

ginmakesitallok Thu 07-Feb-13 21:20:25

I know that now Pictish, unfortunately it wasn't labelled 'top' in the shop.
