Anyone interested in a 'what we are buying'wearing' thread for those of us who love clothes but have a New Look/Dorothy Perkins/Primark/HM budget?

I love following some blogs and I liked lurking on the AW threads but I can never afford the clothes, shoes and bags that are talked about. I love looking at different styles and then have the challenge of trying to find a cheaper look on the cheaper end of the high street. I'd love to hear what others are finding to give me some ideas.
One of the blogs I follow is, I love Kat's style and whilst she has the odd bit from Primark or H&M there is a lot of Toast, Massimo Dutti, Jigsaw, Whistles and these are just too expensive for me.
So, does anyone fancy sharing tips on good finds on the budget highstreet?

Spottymoo - I wear lots of those very pretty but way too short dresses that New Look, Primark etc specialise in as tunics with leggings/jeggings - does that help?

Today I'm wearing cream & black lace print tea dress - pearl lowe at Peacocks, black opaques and irregular choice fresh cut grass shoes

Hair half up and backcombed and hair straightener curls in the bit that's down, and red lippy as felt quite a lot like Jabba the Hut this morning after over indulging last night...

Today I work
Very old flowery peacocks dress
Black tights
Black flower in my hair smile

AShoeThing I think you need to start putting some photos on your profile as your outfits always sound fab!

I've taken a liking for sweatshirts all of a sudden hmm. I like the spotty ones in Next, the spots are sequins. I'm a classroom assistant in a special school so I don't need to dress up for work, which is good because I'm a scruffy bugger. It's jeans and converse everyday.

I like skulls on things and have a skull sweatshirt and t shirt from Primark, so does my 15 year old DD! I'm not worried about looking mutton, I wear what I like grin.

I know they are everywhere at the moment but I really like to wear scarves with things as well. Primark has an excellent selection at £4 ( they hide your belly too blush)

freddiefrog Fri 15-Feb-13 20:09:09

Jelloonsprings I LOVE those shoes!

I get paid tomorrow so very excited about being able to treat myself to something new. It seems ages since I bought any new clothes. I actually don't know what to buy. Think I'll have a look in Matalan as they seem to have some nice stuff just now. Might also look in H&M - although I never see things I like in the shop, usually go online.
Where else should I be looking? Would like to get some skinnies but not sure if they'd look daft on me as a size 16.

HalleLouja Fri 15-Feb-13 20:20:48

I have recently found these two good tips. This is owned by Kurt Geiger and is legit.

Also on ebay there is a Boden outlet. It is very tempting and I bought these

I managed to get some 7 for all Mankind jeans from TKs yesterday for a good price. Not totally bargainous but £50 for £200 jeans. For cheap jeans I used to buy New Look as they fitted nicely and looked good too.

I love TU tops. They have nice tops and the tights I bought recently were really nice.

spottymoo Fri 15-Feb-13 21:03:05

Thanks jellon that's perfect and will look good with ballet flats once the dreaded cast is off smile

Always ready - I'm a 16 a d find that asda skinnys suit me well but I am 5ft 10 the really skinnys are to tight on my cakes but normal skinnys lion great and tuck in boots smile

Jelloonsprings Fri 15-Feb-13 21:04:00

Thanks Freddie. They were via New Look who had a half price offer on all their shoes (sorry I think it's ended now) maybe worth keeping an eye out for again though or there's these at half price and similar...

I'm so excited - pay is in the bank and I can go clothes shopping for the first time in ages. Going to try and be sensible though - try everything on and if I don't love it then it won't do. If that means coming home with nothing then so be it. I may struggle with that one though so am planning to get some skincare at least.

Have been window shopping online and getting very grumpy at all the beautiful high necked dresses. Am still BFing at the moment so I need dresses with a neck I can pull down or unbutton. Still I s'pose it's saving me money, and I'm also trying to lose the baby weight so shouldn't be spending a fortune.

Very impressed by your hauls shoething and landofsoap smile

CointreauVersial Sat 16-Feb-13 17:57:11

Wearing today:

White long sleeved HeatTech top, Uniqlo
Navy and white striped cotton tunic jumper, Next
White skinny jeans, Gap Outlet
Navy, white and silver massive scarf, River Island
Long brown boots, Clarks
Teal tweedy jacket, Wallis (a hand-me-down from my stepmum)

I can't believe how many shops still have sale stuff knocking around. Some bargains still to be had.

MimikosPanda Sat 16-Feb-13 18:22:10

Here is a random question for you, who wears Jack Wills clothes? Is there an age that makes you too old for that brand, stereotypically speaking?

4TheLoveOfBob Sat 16-Feb-13 18:25:52

Very late to this thread, but as a fully fledged high street whore, I love it!

Today I wore:
Camel and black aztec print mini dress from Asos w/ thin brown leather belt
Underneath, I had a long sleeved black tee from Topshop (dress is sleeveless)
Extra long black heavyweight leggings from Topshop
Over the knee, flat, black leather boots from Fashion Union

I just did a raid of and bought six cheapo dresses to wear over leggings/thick tights and with long boots...should see me through the rest of the cold months <lies to self that will not shop again soon>

Yay to being cheap n cheerful!

AlwaysReadyForABlether Sat 16-Feb-13 18:36:52

Mimikos my nephews (age 13 & 15) have quite a few t-shirts and hoodies from Jack Wills. I don't think I would wearit for that reason although I do think they have some nice things. I do have a lovely candle from there - its called Cavalry Twill and smells like mens aftershave!
