So ive just turned 39 and have noticed the skin on my face looking really haggered and tired.would drinking lots of water and eating loads of fruit, veg and other healthy stuff really make that much of a difference. Or is it the genes we have been blessed with, that detemines how we look and age.

I have good skin- 42 and told I look 28 - have 4 year old DD and 26 weeks pg with no 2 - and hardly sleeping as am 26 weeks.
I exercise - but cross train rather than do loads of running plus yoga.
Don't drink much or eat much sugary food at all. It is partly genes as my mum has good skin too. Fish and veg works well for me though - and not too much carbs.

7 years ago I went low carb, the difference to my skin was very glowed. Last year I also cut gluten and grains and this had a very positive effect on skin texture on my arms where there were little rough bumps . I am mid 40's and see a big difference in my skin, and dh skin (he also low carbs), compared with work mates - we look younger, and healthier than any of the mid 40s people... So I think diet can make a big difference to how your skin looks and ages.

Careergirl I had ds4 at almost 43! I suspect eating less sugar and carbs is also good for our inner workings not just the skin! grin

If I eat too much sugar, wether its from fruit or junk I get huge boils on my cheeks and chin.

I think it is down to genes but if you don't have good skin then cutting out junk helps.
