I hope that someone might help with mine... how on earth does one pronounce Space NK please? I was going to ask in the shop, but the man in the blue eyeshadow is too scary Blush

I dont know but in my head I say "Space Ink"

My Q: how exactly does one do a sock bun?

Report
winefairy · 30/01/2013 21:41

Space N K. Initials. Stands for the founder Nicky Kinnaird.

Agree with Winefairy re Space NK.

My Q: how do I learn to file my nails? I cannot get a nice shape and it makes my toes curl.

Oh thank you! That is how I've being saying it in my head, but my best friend insists it is Space Unk.

To do a sock bun, cut the toes off a sock so that you have a sort of funny tube, then roll it up so you get a little doughnut/polo sock thingy. Put you hair in a ponytail, and slip the sock thingy over the end, away from your head but with a bit of hair sticking out. Wrap the ends of your hair around the sock bun until it is covered, tucking underneath the sock thing any ends that might be sticking out. Keep rolling the sock towards your head, tucking as you go until it meets you head.

There are lots of nice shiny tutorials online that will help you more though!

What can I get so I can wash my hair the night before and it looks ok the next morning (with brushing obviously otherwise would look like a mad woman)? Have fine hair just above shoulders and it goes all kinked and wierd overnight.

Maemobley, my nails are much better shape just by using the Leighton Denny, ?glass nail file. Didn't like it on first attempt, now love it. Nails break less often too & just look more groomed.

I want someone to tell me how much make up to put on. I dab on the tiniest amount and think it looks very noticeable. That's with bb creams, tinted moisturiser, all those of foundation. Then I see everyone else in the office with anything from OMG OrANGe, to I can see it but they look perfectly nice. No one bats an eyelid at any of them.

It doesn't help that due to my skin I have many freckles and very uneven colour. Parts of my body that see the sun are a very different colour from the bits that don't. I can have a nearly tanned face with tons of merged freckles, to a pasty white neck. Then, on the pale scale, I've a yellow tone and not pink.

I've been rejected by the girls on the make up counters !!

wifeofdoom I have exactly the same problem..I want an answer as well. I hate having to wash and dry my hair every morning

If your hair is long enough, try separating it into two, and the. Twisting each one until it wraps around itself at about ear level. Put a band around each one to hold it in place, then unravel in the morning and comb through as desired with your fingers. You should get a sort of glamourous wave/curl.

For filing nails I read that you should mirror the shape of the cuticle to give a natural look.

I want to know do people really, REALLY go to a beauty salon and have all their pubic AND ANAL hair waxed which must involve showing your entire nether regions to a stranger (or even worse if you get to know them!). How? I can hardly bear to show mine to the doctor! What if you have a post-pregnancy pile!!!??? I would just die of embarrassment.

I say Space N. K. but Space "unk" is better, think I prefer that.

What foundation will even out my skin tone?
I want to just rub it in and it all blend beautifully.
What nail colour is in currently? Why can no one tell me this? I want to wear truffle/grey.

I wonder that also.
I know people at school
That do other mums bits

There is no way anyone I know would see my nether regions. No way!!

Ladybigtoes - one of the mums at school is a nurse and she did my last smear test. That was an awkward moment (for me anyway!) when I opened the door and there she was with the speculum!

I am going to have to try that tip for overnight hair Alwaysleepingbeauty.

The total hair removal thing grosses me out too LadyBigtoes but the idea of having to do it to someone else is even worse!

I am in awe of people who can paint their own nails neatly - how do you do it?

I can't imagine having to do a back, crack and sack to a man in a salon. I have a friend who's a beauty therapist and she says it's not too bad and you just get used to it! Erm...I don't think I could. Hmm

LadyBigToes - I can confirm that I do indeed have everything waxed, yes right up to my hairy asshole. I'm quite good mates with beautician now. I honestly don't think about it that much. I have an appointment tomorrow in fact Smile

Jemster - I agree about nostril hair, it hurts more than waxing !

I have always wanted to ask what is the point of waxing (this applies to any body part). Because don't you have to live with stubble for almost as long as the hair-free period?

I can't picture myself having to wear trousers for however many days/weeks it is until the stubble is long enough to wax. At least with shaving you can (if you can be bothered) be hair-free every day. In our too-short summers I want to wear skirts or shorts and sleeveless tops every single day that it's hot enough!

How do women get hairless, pale, pinky arm pits?
Not matter how I remove my underarm hair, I always have 5 o'clock shadow.

Report
Northumberlandlass · 31/01/2013 13:21

I only wax my bikini as I get awful shaving rash & ingrown hairs which waxing sorts for me. I do proabably spend more time with stubble than hair free.
I shave armpits & legs though.

I don't have a 5 o'clock shadow Pip but they aren't pinky Grin - I tried waxing my armpits once and the pain was horrendous and it didn't even last 2 days. I tend to shave in lots of different directions (if that makes sense), I also can't shave them everyday as I get a rash.

Iaintdun I mix the tiniest dab of bb cream with normal moisturiser (literally a dot)

I have never got on with any foundation, mineral make up or tinted moisturiser (and I have tried virtually every make ) it sits on my skin.. The only minor success I had was with no 7 intelligent foundation, which used to be fab then I moved to another continent and it just didn't work.

luckily I do have very good skin (possibly as it's not been caked in make up ?)

I don't know how to apply lipstick. I can't get the edge neat enough and always think I look far too made up. Mostly I don't care, but about once a year I would like to look a bit more glam.

I think the hollywood actresses and what not who have NO underarm hair must have had it lasered. That is the only explanation I can think of.

For neat nailpolishing, I think it's down to practice on the one hand, or my slightly barking method - moisturise your hands before (so the skin is slightly oily), but then clean the nails with remover so that they aren't. Paint with gay abandon (don't be too bothered about going over the lines). Wait to dry - peel the extra bits that went over the nail and onto the skin off and tah dah! tidier looking nails.
