So I fell and broke my arm, been in hospital and off work (bone broke and crumbled!) so hair not been a worry however I'm hoping to go back to work on Monday, DH tried to put it in a pony tail and didn't have a clue, looked at YouTube and tried to fishtail plait but couldn't!

So my arm is in a full cast so can't use hand at all. Hair is pretty unruly and very long... Any suggestions to look tidy for work??

Do you have any friends or neighbours who could help put it up? Either that or DH is going to need to practise! Sorry about your arm too, that sounds v painful x

Use a grocodile clip to snag it back one handed. Make your husband brush it down off your shoulders, then reach round with your good hand and snag all the hair together at the nape of your neck.

Poor you, been there, it is awful.

My top two tips are:
Go to the hairdressers for a wash and blow dry. My mane was tamed and it at least meant that I felt a lot better and looked ok.
Then use a crocodile clip to clip it one handed. Don't try ponytails!

Good luck xx

Could you get a friend to put it in a French plait in the evenings and leave it in over night/ during the day?

Or could a good colleague help you when you get to work?

I think I have a crocodile clip somewhere, will try that. Unfortunately can't afford to go to the hairdressers atm Sad

Not sure about a French plait would it not look frumpy on a 30 something??

Would feel embarrassed asking a colleague Blush

Why not go or call a hairdressers and ask if they need a model? They might do you for free.

And if you were my friend, I would come round and do it for you. Grin

Just get DH to practice - he will get the hang of a ponytail after a few goes. If you have a big clip, it is easy to swirl your hair from a low pony by gathering it, twisting up the back of your head, then just getting him to hold it onto the back of your head while you clip it in place

How free are you fingers? When I broke my arm two years ago, after a few days the fingers were recovered enough to be able grip a crocodile clip or pull the hair into a ponytail.

Agree that DH was useless tho Smile

Hope it stops throbbing soon - I remember how painful it was and how heavy the initial cast was

Thanks oneliein Smile

Am going to try with the clip, unfortunately they don't normally hold it all my hair up!! Grin

I promise it will get better. After a few days you will be able to.

PS you might be interested to know that the nurse at the hospital advised me to have a stuff drink, rather than pills overnight Wink

Obviously, I should point out that mixing pills and alcohol is not a good idea

But hopefully you'll sleep well - if it's any consolation, when I broke my arm it was August and it ruined a weekend in London two days later abd a holiday in Greece. Ok, so ruined is a bit strong, but I was trying to make you feel better Smile

I know, thanks Getting, my friend just popped round with chocolates and the promise of coming round first thing to wash and style my hair for me Grin

I think I would've been gutted too if I'd broken before a trip / holiday, I shouldn't moan really it's only stopped me working for a few days x
