Washing powder/liquid and fabric conditioner

Hi everyone, was just wondering what everyone uses as want to try something different and was wondering if there is anything people really rate?

I buy persil/ariel bio powder when it is on offer for whites, colours, etc. Also use a colour powder for black/dark clothes and jeans as they were fading quickly with the non-colour stuff. Am using some sort of Lenor conditioner - I buy one on offer so sometimes use Comfort/own make stuff. I sniff them all and choose one I like the smell of.

Soap powder depends on what is on offer. Got a big box of Persia for £6 in ASDA which was half price. Before that was ariel.

Conditioner is comfort. I like the yellow one.

Really as long as clothes are clean and smell nice I don't care!

Ariel biological powder is best for stain removal but for low temperature washes I prefer persil colour liquid as I have found powder doesn't always fully dissolve and colour liquid stops fading of colours.

Also apparently you should not use biological powder or liquid for wool as it eats it. only use non bio. for this I use fairy or persil non bio whatevers on offer. I used to use woolite but its very expensive though it does smell nice

for softener either comfort, lenor or fairy (the white pure one) whatevers on offer

I use Aldi non-bio tablets and their blue softener. I think my washing smells clean and fresh rather than smelling of something in particular. My sister even commented on it last time she was here and she is very particular about what she uses.

Ecover non-bio liquid. It makes washing smell fresh rather than fragranced. Sainsburys sell it but it's quite expensive.

I use fairy non bio with a comfort conditioner on some things. Woolite for woollens.

Do you still use comfort when using woolite? Are they Aldi non-bio powder or Liquid tablets AlwaysReadyForABlether? Do you use colour liquid even with your whites QuiteOldGal ?

No, just woolite. Anything I am not sure about wool-wise, I dry clean. I have learnt the hard way.

Don't use laundry liquid. It isn't good for your washing machine. I used to use Ecover laundry liquid, but my washer got quite skanky. I followed advice given on here and on here and now use Ariel Bio for whites and towels and Fairy non bio for colours. I also use Fairy conditioner. Since I swapped to Ariel my daughter's eczema has disappeared.

I suspect that it is because the bio powder killed off the moulds that were lurking in my washer because I had been using eco friendly alternatives at low temperature washes for several years.

I used to be a real washing powder snob and would only use Ariel and Persil, but in the Summer tried Formil from Lidl. I was so impressed. It is half the price, you need half the quantity and it is just as good, if not better. I use the biological big box powder.

I use Comfort or Lenor depending on which is on offer. Next time I go to Lidl I am going to try their fabric softener.

napkin it's the powder tablets from Aldi I use. I think they do have liqui-tabs but I've never tried them.

I don't get fabric conditioner. Why?

Fairy liquid tabs and Comfort pure or tesco sensitive fabric conditioner. The tesco one smells nicer I think. Woolite for wool items.

I hate the strong smells of commercial washing powders and fabric softeners, plus often they make me itch.

So I make my own lavender and tea tree washing powder (recipes are all over the internet). Smells great, works fantastic and a big kilner jar of powder looks nicer than a box of Fairy. Cheap and only takes a couple of minutes to make.

For fabric conditioner I just use white vinegar and essential oils kept in a pretty decanter. Works great too.

I hate the smell of tea tree oil. It reminds me of cheap detergent or toilet cleaner.

Surcare, been using it since DD1 was born and I was in heightened PFB state. Been using it ever since but can be hard to get hold of. Not every supermarket stocks it and those that do seem to sell out (just order larger amounts Simples).

Napkin I dont have many whites, only some summer stuff and then I would just use the the powder as I think it removes stains better which of course show much more on whites.

As Bunbaker said liquid does make your machine skanky, thats why I use the powder on sheets and towels even though they are coloured also it does get them cleaner.
