all this talk of argan and moroccan oil that I can't use

there must be others with greasy hair

what do you use?

ggirl Sat 26-Jan-13 15:35:19

yes I'm impressed with the squeakiness of my hair!

suze28 Sat 26-Jan-13 15:26:55

ggirl from reading the blurb on the website it does work better over time so def keep going with it. It's good for removing product build up too.

ggirl Sat 26-Jan-13 15:09:57

well suze I used it yesterday for the 1st time and was quite impressed ..but sadly my hair was still greasy today
will not judge until a few more days ...made sure it was squeaky clean today and didn't use conditioner..not giving up yet

Try cider apple vinegar, two parts water to one part vinegar, used as a rinse for 5 mins before you wash as normal, followed by an icy cold brain freeze rinse after - it cuts through grease and product build up like nothing else I have used, coupled with not drying my hair for an hour or so after washing, but making sure I dry it completely with the hair dryer = glossy shiny hair that I can wash every other day.

I hope you all find it works well as I've recommended it! Wash twice, you prob would anyway but I tend to as I like that squeaky clean feeling.

My PM shampoo arrived today (amazon) , came from Sweden weirdly.
Will be interested to see if it makes a difference.

SweetieTime Thu 24-Jan-13 18:32:38

Got mine (Paul Mitchell) on order from Amazon too. Just hope it works, anyone else giving it a go?

Honeymoonmummy Thu 24-Jan-13 17:32:30

Oh and it was £9 from a city centre salon so a lot cheaper than amazon for 300ml inc postage.

Honeymoonmummy Thu 24-Jan-13 17:28:30

Just bought my Paul Mitchell smile Will let you know how it compares to the Lush bar.

I've had a look on google and there are plenty of places to get it from. It works really well and keeps my hair clean and grease free.

Grow it longer.

My hair will still be long when I'm 70 because if it's short it needs washing by mid day.

knitknack Sun 20-Jan-13 13:21:00

oh it's so good to know we're not alone!! Especially in this weather when it's so cold - imagine only having to wash every 3 days!!

SweetieTime Sun 20-Jan-13 11:20:32

My hair is also a greasy nightmare. I never go more than a day and half without washing. Nothing I have ever tried has made any difference. Mine is dry on ends so needs conditioning to be able to get comb through it. By evening my fringe hangs in rats tails when I only washed it that morning sad I have friends who go a week between washes --I hate them envy - -

RandallPinkFloyd Sun 20-Jan-13 11:12:32

Can I join, my hair is vile after 24 hours sad

The only thing that's ever worked was pregnancy! Honestly, my hair was bloody lovely, washed it every 3rd day and it looked fine.

Back to square one within a couple of weeks though.

I'm intrigued by those lush bar thingies. Do they really work?

I use Alberto Balsam tea tree shampoo and conditioner, I wash every other day and condition every other day time I wash. If I condition every time my hair is definitely worse. Its about £1.50each for the shampoo and conditioner. I do find changing brands every now and again helps too, another one I like is Tommy Guns sage and basil, that's about £5/6 each and you get in John Lewis or Waitrose.

greasy girls unite!!!
people with dry hair ...washing it weekly...don't know they're so lucky ..although I bet their hair stinks after that long

MadameCastafiore Sun 20-Jan-13 10:54:16

Dd went through a teenage hormonal phase and her hair was vile. Greasy and dirty looking immediately after it was washed. Our lovely hairdresser recommended using Toni and guys extra cleanse shampoo, is part of men's range in grey plastic bottle, and her hair is so much better.

It was really bad though, I used to make her wear a her when we went out together!

May also join in the Argan/ Moroccan oil envy? envy grin

I have ridiculously oily hair too.
Occasionally combined with dandruff. I use Vichy Dercos Anti Dandruff Treatment Shampoo For Greasy Hair then and it's the only thing that works. After 2-3 weeks hair is flake and grease free.

I have not found anything for my oily hair for the rest of the time, so I tend to wash it every day. Never heard of Paul Mitchel before.

The other day I came across a discontinued Boots' own brand for greasy hair reduced to 25p! I got two bottles just in case. Have been using for about a week every other day. Hair just about looking washed on the second day.
I will have to save up for PM 2 it seems...

nurseneedshelp Sun 20-Jan-13 10:42:54

Mine looks like its been dipped in the chip pan by the end of the day and it drives me insane! Can't break the cycle of not washing it every day!
I use Aussie because I love the smell but need to start looking at another product

ggirl Sun 20-Jan-13 10:42:36

yes I read that that Kinglsey chap says that everyone should wash daily ,but he would it prob takes him about 2 minutes!

just would be nice to have a break from it once in a while

knitknack Sun 20-Jan-13 10:28:15

I'm in this camp (skin too, it's such a pita!). I just suck it up ans wash my hair every evening, using a range of shampoos including the bodyshop's ginger if my scalp is a bit unhappy and a joico one that is for damaged hair - my thinking being that if I'm going to wash everyday (which P Kingsley recommends, btw) then I should use a kind shampoo, rather than trying to strip off all the oils.

I HAVE, just yesterday, bought a spray leave in conditioner to see if that makes any difference... Haven't used it yet though.

Blackduck Sun 20-Jan-13 10:12:38

Faith in Nature - rosemary shampoo - find it in Oxfam

ggirl Sun 20-Jan-13 00:46:20

Have ordered the PM from amazon, thanks

suze28 Sun 20-Jan-13 00:43:18

In the past I tried Herbal Essences for greasy hair, Waitrose own label for greasy and the Paul Mitchell is the only one that keeps my hair grease free till the third day.
