I am due to have a major operation which will mean 6-8 weeks off work. It is a TVT to hopefully end my stress incontinence; something I have suffered with for 18 years. Been a lone parent for 12 and this is the first time I can take the time off from the school run and work.

About half of my lingerie is nice, the other half is TU from Sainsburys and similar. Fine as in it fits, is comfortable and serviceable but nothing in any way anything that makes me feel special.

I am considering after my op and recovery banishing the cheap undies to the bin and only buying beautiful lingerie.

What I need folks is brands, nice brands. I'm a 34B so the bra needs to be padded or underworked. I only ever wear sets and am happy to hand wash.

Elle MacPherson Intimates always has very pretty things - sadly they don't go up to an E cup so no good for me anymore.

Hope your op goes well.

Don't know where you live teahouse, but it's well worth a visit to Rigby and Peller for a fitting. It's just so lovely to have a bra fitted properly and I think it's worth the extra money that the bras cost there. Depends on your location and budget really. Otherwise, maybe a visit to your local John Lewis, as they have a big range with some luxury brands there, and they can fit one for you. I like Princesse Tamtam and Marie Jo. Good luck with the op.

Ooh thanks Shopfrolic - had no idea. Hurrah!

Used to love the brightly coloured Calvin Klein mesh sets too, always felt very sexy and model-esque in those Wink

I want Rigby and Peller sets!
I have spent the last 20 minutes looking for a make I used to love. Can't recall the name!
Remember outlet centres. Lots to try but cheaper.

I love the silk autograph range in m&s. It's machine washable, cheap enough for everyday use, feels amazing and I think it's pretty. It comes with matching shorts/French knickers to keep your bum warm too.

Teahouse, before you buy new undies, please measure your size the MN way. StatisticallyChallenged and SorrelForbes are bra goddesses:

For brands, I like Freya.

Thank you ladies.
Saw that Myla has a sale on so bought myself a set from there. Signed up to Lingerie Addicts and going to treat myself after my op...can't wait.
I know my size...not changed for years but will go to R&P in the summer I think, get sized and splash out...I deserve it!

I absolutely love La Perla but it is incredibly expensive and I can rarely afford it. Have a look at their outlet for something more affordable. Good luck with your operation!

Yes, it is worth checking your size as that definitely opens up possibilities for different brands and styles.

For what it's worth, I don't know anyone who is honestly a B cup. Pretty much without exception everyone who has reassessed their sizing as per earlier bra threads has ended up at least a D. My sister has worn a 34B for years. Got fitted in Bravissimo this winter as a 28F.

Aubde is expensive but lovely , calvin klein can sometimes be found at TK Maxx so it always worth a look for nice brands.

I always buy my bras from Blossom Lingerie. They have lots of loverly bras on their website. If I want to splash out on myself I'll buy a Pleasure State bra, I think they're really pretty and fit really well too!! Comes in a loverly box aswell!

So glad to hear you're well. I second Aubade - v expensive but truly special. Chantelle, a sister brand I think, is slightly less £££ but has some very pretty lines too. I would really recommend trying to get to Rigby & Peller for a fitting before spending a lot - they do it by eye (!), and they know the makes they carry so will bring out slightly different sizes depending on the brands and even different designs to get the perfect fit. If you were up for spending more than £80 on a bra (and Aubade go well over that) I think it's worth the hassle to be sure it's the perfect fit. The ladies in R&P are very nice. And you can always buy something more reasonable - or nothing - but come out armed with all the info you need to take to othe shops/online. Although I think it's probably fair to buy one thing - they have lovely "everyday" bras too, more expensive than most but an astonishing fit. I found the only t-shirt bras I have never thrown to the back of a drawer in there, have a pile of cheaper disappointments to go to Oxfam/bra appeals that have been tried on and never worn. R&P has sales too.
