Body shop hemp cream for feet with the socks on top works really well

Start with Soap and Glory foot file. Go gently at first if your feet are sore. Then whack on any thick, extra moisturing cream. Do this for a week (don't use the foot file every day though) and you'll soon have feet as soft as a baby's bum!

Soak in hot salty water (softens skin), give a quick scrub dry and slather the richest moisturiser you can find, put socks on top and ideally sleep with a hot water bottle next to your feet.

It'd be best to invest in some cream with a good urea content, daily application should sort them.

I use CCS Heel Balm, but the trick is to use it on a regular basis. I've tried other makes, but come back to this one. I put on after shower in the morning. It is not the cheapest, but my preferred choice.

Punctuation fail:

This is brilliant and contains urea.

And agree re: Soap and Glory foot file too - bought after Mumsnet recommendation.

Flexitol, that's the stuff! Couldn't remember the name.

Footner is also good, if revolting. Not sure if you can use it when there a raw cracks though, probably best to sort them first then go for it.

Agree with flexitol/CCS or anything similar with urea in ( think
Scholl do one too). Lather on and leave over night with cotton socks on.

yy, and disgusting as it sounds, it's best to reuse your 'moisturizing' socks 'cause otherwise you're losing 1/2 the cream to them each night.

My feet improved when I stopped having daily baths and started having daily showers, I use a body shop foot file once or twice a week and every night go to bed with my feet covered in a thick cream and socks, doing the cream and socks every night did wonders, I used to only do it once a week.

The most amazing foot cream i have found (i have tried a lot) is Origins Reinventing the Heel, it has the consistency of vaseline but smells nice and minty, turns really hard dry feet soft and lovely overnighy, cracks healed in afew nights of application. Expensive but much nicer to use than flexitol and similar and last ages, as you don't need much and it works quickly.

orangina Sun 06-Jan-13 13:01:39

Flexitol and a decent foot file......

DameSaggarmakersbottomknocker Sun 06-Jan-13 13:12:58

Another recommendation for Flexitol here. Bloody marvellous.

mirpuppet Sun 06-Jan-13 14:24:17

FLEXITOL!! End of.

Another vote for flexitol here.
It's also really good for helping bumpy skin on arms.

Boots do their own cracked heel cream, it's fantastic. Any cream with a high content of urea will do the trick.

whiteandyelloworchid Sun 06-Jan-13 18:08:45

oh thanks i'm going to try vasaline, as its the only thing i have in the house tonight, if its no good then i'll have to invest in flexitol

I use Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream about once a week. Started after I was given a set of 8 hour stuff and couldn't work out what to use it for as it has an unusual scent. Now I'm strangely addicted to the smell and I find the cream does wonders for my feet. Feet are something I really notice in the summer when people are wearing sandals, I really hate that cracked white heel look and often notice its the most well-dressed women who have it! The cream is also good for cuticles or for dry patches on the face etc. Its like vaseline but not so messy.

Boots own cracked heel balm on all the dry bits not just the heels and put socks on. File as needed.
