I need a minimizig bra for my humongous norks! 36HH

I want a bra that i can wear with a jumper that doesnt show any cleavage that doesnt give me major double boob and make it look like im trying to keep two water melons warm!

I get measured and get new bras regularly but always end up with double boob and i hate it! also my boobs look hideous because they are so big and i really want a bra that squishes them in a bit, making it easier to buy clothes!

An hour of googling has shown up loads of minimizer bras, all going up to a DD or E at the largest!

Cany anyone reccomend or find me one please?

My norks will thank you very much grin

Where did you get measured? You shouldn't get double boob with a well fitting bra.

poorbuthappy Tue 11-Dec-12 20:09:07

What Tickled said.
Good fitting bras do not create double boob syndrome.

Where are you being measured?
Is it M&S?

Makingchanges Tue 11-Dec-12 20:10:38

I have a huge chest, bigger than yours and don't get double chest. I get measured at bravissimo, it really made a difference!

Themeparkfan Tue 11-Dec-12 20:12:32

Have you tried Bravissimmo?

As a fellow 36HH'er I would recommend you pay them a visit - most places have a shop or you can order online smile

Suzieismyname Tue 11-Dec-12 20:15:01

Another recommendation for bravissimo here. Get fitted properly by them and you will look fab! I'm about your size and the difference is truly remarkable. They have a wide range of styles and prices.

KindleMum Tue 11-Dec-12 20:17:48

You're not being fitted right. Bravissimo are good. Pepperberry can be good for clothes that are shaped for large boobs but their sizing is erratic so you do have to try every single thing on before you buy so you'll be taking lots back.

But the best solution - go to Rigby and Peller, do a day shopping trip if need be. yes, their stuff's not cheap but it's great and I bet you'll spend less on bras overall as you'll have a small quantity of ones that work instead of vast numbers of ones that don't. I swear by them.

??? I'm wearing a 36H. At no point do I ever have double boob. Get yourself properly fitted (are you certain you are a 36HH?) and get some good bras. Be prepared to pay more (mine are £50 each) but it is worth it. I'd recommend PrimaDonna as a good make for the larger of chest.

TheFallenMadonna Tue 11-Dec-12 20:21:02

You don't need to minimise. You do need a bra that is the right shape for you, and also for the clothes you wear. I have different bras for different clothes, because how my breasts "sit" affects the line of my tops.

KindleMum Tue 11-Dec-12 20:21:42

Would second PrimaDonna - got mine from Rigby and Peller.

fryingpanalley Tue 11-Dec-12 20:26:07

Don't get a minimising bra! They shove your boobs under your arms and it feels weird when you swing your arms when you walk. Plus they never look nice. <bitter experience>. Just go to Bravissimo and get the best bras you can afford.

HedgeHogGroup Tue 11-Dec-12 20:33:17

Get fitted by Bravissimo and then buy from Ebay Shop... muuuuuch cheaper!

eatyourveg Tue 11-Dec-12 20:35:20

36HH/J (depending on style) here and like fryingpanalley has said, a minimiser just shoves everything under your arms. bravissimo is the place to go

onyx72 Tue 11-Dec-12 20:35:59

Debenhams do a good selection in your size.

ggirl Tue 11-Dec-12 20:43:08

I would personally recommend prima donna bras , I am a 36 h and previously was wearing a 38ff in fantasie fitted by bravissimo and JLewis.
When I went to an independent lingerie shop that stocked prima donna I was amazed at the differenc in the way I lookked. I cannot over emphasise how much it changes your shape to have a proper fitting excellent quality- designed for big boobs bra.
You don't need a minimiser you need a fabulous bra.
They are expensive but really worth it. I have bought three and chucked out all my old one. I will never wear anything else.
My 10yr old ds even noticed that I looked slimmer.
go to nearest stockist to get fitted then buy online they're cheaper in my local shop than in R%P

Empriente make also very good but fit is different to prima donna so you need to try on first.

KindleMum Tue 11-Dec-12 20:54:26

One trick I liked in R&P was that they get you to put your top back on over the "New" bra when trying it on to see what it looks like - it's easiest to see the effect of a good bra on your figure with your clothes back on as it turns out. The difference between my Fantasie/Freya bras and the PrimaDonna (36H) they sold me was amazing. Wherever you end up going, wear a t-shirt and put it back on before choosing your bra.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I don't get messured at m+s, not after they got it totally wrong and hey never have my 'size' anyway.
I get messured at a place called 'leaia' don't know if its an independant bra store or a chain but they stock freya etc..
They always bring the bras in different size though, which has always confused me..
I HATE the way my boobs look in my current bras, im spilling out and have double boob and they look saggy, the middle bit of the bra is not touching my body IYSWIM?

Thanks for the advice, i have just ordered 2 prima donna bras in a 36HH and if they dont fit properly i will go and get messured at my nearest stockist!

I have also found a bra i used o have which I LOVED and havent been able to find it again, untill now, and its a prima donna bra! Have orderd it and hope its as good as i remember!

I honestly hate my boobs, i'm looking into breast reduction surgery and have a consultation in january but need bras that fit for now!

Thanks again everyone, Love mumsnet! grin

HazleNutt Tue 11-Dec-12 21:32:30

if you're spilling out and middle part is not against chest, then the cup is clearly too small. You would probably also need to go up more than 1 cup size. if they're saggy as well, you might need to go down a back size.

fridgepants Wed 12-Dec-12 00:32:20

Does the band of your bra ride up when you lift up your arms? Can you fit your hand between the band and your back? If yes to both, then it's too big on you.

What dress size are you, top and bottom? If you're a size 8 on the bottom, say, then it would be unlikely that you'd measure a 36 round the back.

NirvanaSmellsLikeTeenMother Wed 12-Dec-12 18:39:14

No, its quite tight round my chest, leaves red dents when i take it off, too small?
Im a size 12/14 but 16 on top

SorrelForbes Wed 12-Dec-12 19:11:46

OK, so we can help you, can you follow this measuring guide?:

Measure under your bust (hold the tape tight) to get your band measurement. Do not add on any inches to this measurement. Then measure across the fullest part of your bust. Each 1" of difference between the two measurements equals a cup size. So, let’s say you measure 34" underneath and 42" across? That would give you a starting point of 34FF.

SorrelForbes Wed 12-Dec-12 19:13:23

The band may well feel too tight if the cups are too small as all the fabric in the band is being used to compensate for the lack of fabric in the cups.

eatyourveg Wed 12-Dec-12 21:27:49

Never understood the fullest part of your bust thing.

Are you talking the height from your chest to the highest bit of your boob ie if you lay flat on the floor, the nearest bit to the ceiling or do you mean if you bent over how far are they from end to end ie from the chest to the nipple. ie how far out they go if they went for the 90 degrees Barbara Windsor look. I think mine are about twice as long as they are in horizontal height so to speak - when I'm vertical and without any support, they almost reach my tummy button)

SorrelForbes Wed 12-Dec-12 22:59:39

You can either measure around the fullest part whilst wearing your best fitting bra or you can measure without a bra by leaning forward so your boobs hang down towards the floor. With either method, keep the tape measure loose and as straight as possible.

I got my minimiser from m&s. Took some trying on but finally found one that makes me look nearly flat chested! Yay!
