When your own mother remarks on how lovely the boots you're wearing are and insists on popping into the shop to buy a pair.

Or is it worse - have I just discovered GRAN boot? Grin

Your mum must be cooler than my mum.

my mum wouldn't wear them but that's because she is a gran and way too chic

Actually, I don't think they are mum boots - I quite like them :)

I have these, got them last year, and my mum and just got the same pair, in the same colour. And I ordered them online for her (doh!) She is a trendy mother though, not muttony at all.

They're lovely and not at all mum-like. You and your mum are cool! Grin

Ooh, I love those boots (I'm 35).

I saw them ages ago, but couldn't justify spending £100 on them. Now that they are in the sale...

I would have worn those boots when I was 20. They are too nice for me, now.

I saw an (Italian) granma wearing studded moto boots.
And street hawkers have lots of cheap versions of them everywhere.

The trendy young things here are wearing the classic black mum boots again, usually with leggings or skintight black jeans.

You both have good taste! They're lovely, I'm 25 and I'd wear them.

Desperate to buy these and I'm 28

I still think they're lovely, and will continue to wear both colours of them until spring. I thought it funny that DM wanted some as they're definitely not mum boots as I understand them.

sue52 is right. They're very comfortable!

I think they're lovely but I'm 47 so no doubt that's put you off them even more Grin

I like them.

What are "mum boots". Why so sneery about them?

Report
FoxtrotFoxtrotSierra · 11/12/2012 21:10

I'm not being sneery, I was joking. There are loads of threads every autumn about mum boots and I was amused that my boots were coveted by my mother, thus making them mum boots in my family.

MumBoots are the short, chealsea boots/jodhpur boots style with a rounded toe and a low chunky heel.
Usually a zip at the side or elastic

And for the cherry on the cake- from Marks and Spencer.

And usually found adorning my feet Grin

46 yo, mum, don't care that they are MumBoots .(Go lovely with my faded bootcuts )
