Is my hair too long? With pics!

My Mother (whose opinion I shouldn't care about but do) is on the verge of making a hair appt for me when I go home at Christmas as she hates my long hair and has used the word 'witch' about it in the past hmm

I haven't been to a hairdresser in well over a year. I love my hair long and hate hairdressers thanks to a history of unwanted dos and a deep fear of layered Mum cuts and sensible bobs. In my defence it is very thick and shiny.

I'm 32. Tell me MN, is my hair too long and do I look like a witch??

GlaikitFizzogTheChristmasElf Tue 11-Dec-12 19:42:51

It my turn next week! Your usual bunny?? Going anywhere nice on holiday?

WayneDeer Tue 11-Dec-12 19:40:33

a ha

I knew it

notMarlene Tue 11-Dec-12 19:37:44

Nah, Bunny thinks it's her natural colour but actually there's a secret rota of MNers who sneak into her house at night and dye it. Been going on for years and she's never noticed. Shame you had to out the plot.

WayneDeer Tue 11-Dec-12 19:34:58

Are you saying that you don't permanently dye your hair?
at all?

JingleBellaTheGymnast Tue 11-Dec-12 19:34:48

I can't see a photo with a fringe! <wails>

Although I like the 1950s one.

BunnyLebowski Tue 11-Dec-12 19:29:42

Yes Wayne. I'm sure.

Why do you ask?

WayneDeer Tue 11-Dec-12 19:27:03

bunny are you sure that's your natural colour?.....

Eliza22 Tue 11-Dec-12 16:02:46

I can't pick up the pics with fringe but, I'd tell your mum, you're a big girl now and don't need her to make hair appointments for you, unless you ask her.

Of the pics I can see, your hair looks thick and healthy and shiny and ... What the heck is she going on about!?

Amblin Tue 11-Dec-12 15:57:34

Oh no. Cba to read thread.

Thanks though

BunnyLebowski Tue 11-Dec-12 15:42:20

Oh she's gorgeous Far! Hair and everything else envy Love her fringe.

And thank you smile

Farlalalala Tue 11-Dec-12 15:40:44

Late to the party I know, but IMO it's not too long, you're gorgeous and I love the fringe. Regular trims keep witchiness at bay.

Pink tips would be amazing! I love this girl's hair.

Yes. It looks a bit curtains. And dyed too dark so you look washed out.

BunnyLebowski Tue 11-Dec-12 14:01:02

Right. You lot have convinced me! Screw my mother and her issues! I'm keeping it long!

Have made an appointment. Going to get a few inches off and hopefully a few of those low down layers that rockin suggested.

Not brave enough for the pink tips although I have been toying with the idea of bleaching a section at the front and dying it red/pink/purple. Hmmm.

FergusSingsTheBlues Tue 11-Dec-12 11:05:45

I cut mine, it was waist length, my mum also went on about how witchy I looked. Shorter hair is great, but im natural long haired chica, and feel unlike myself....growing it now. Cut it only if you want to.

SparkyTGD Tue 11-Dec-12 11:04:51

Agree myfirst, when I go to the hairdresser all the 'young uns' are like, "wow, your hair is so long!" and they want theirs to be too but have no patience grin

myfirstkitchen Tue 11-Dec-12 11:02:11

Your hair is gorgeous.

Get a couple of inches off max to trim it!

People pay shitloads for extensions and clip ins to get hair that looks like that!

Don't know what your mother is on about?!

HorraceTheChristmasOtter Tue 11-Dec-12 09:34:57

Mine is longer than yours, so no, I don't think it looks too long! It needs a trim, but that's it. I usually tell the hairdresser firmly that I do not want it layered or styled, just an inch and a half of the bottom please. It's always gone fine so far grin

AgathaHoHoHo Tue 11-Dec-12 09:27:26

Your hair is amazing!!!!

Don't cut it, just trim it if it needs it. And tell your mum to mind her own.

HaveAGoodDay Mon 10-Dec-12 20:47:38

No it's not too long it's lovely. I had long hair like yours about 6 years ago & over the years coupled with medication & too many trims & colours, my hair got shorter and is now just past my shoulders. I'm desperate for it to be long & thick again but just won't grow past this length. It thinned a lot because of the medication. Could be my age (nearing 40) too. Keep it long you won't regret it!

DolomitesDonkey Mon 10-Dec-12 13:48:38

Watch out - she might find out you're not shopping in Laura Ashley/Per Una and there will be HELL to pay! ;)

BaublesAndCuntingCarolSingers Mon 10-Dec-12 12:39:02

You have virtually the same hair as me so I would say it looks fabulous wink

You look gorgeous. Is your mother jealous, perchance?

platanos Mon 10-Dec-12 12:36:50

I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant your hair. it looks great, don't chop loads off, trim and style if you want but no more.

indeed witches don't have fringes smile, or such healthy looking hair....normally straggly, isn't it? I am aiming for a witch style, as long as it is long I do not care (sick of too many years of short hair...)

shrimponastick Mon 10-Dec-12 10:39:24

Your hair looks just fine to me.

Am still chuckling at "witches don't have fringes" tho grin

louistheseventeenth Mon 10-Dec-12 10:33:43

Your hair and DD are both beautiful
