DD thinks if I wear trews to a wedding it'll make me look "old".

Is she right?

She is part of the wedding party, and as such is apparently privy to everyones outfit choice. She says the 90yo grand matriachs of the family will be wearing trousers, and I deffinately shouldn't.

I was thinking printed peg-legged trousers & platforms.

Is that ok for a size 16/18 wedding?

She is 10 ffs.
I am 32.

I think a dress would be younger looking TBH, but it's hard to say without seeing the trousers. Do you have a link?

Depends on trews, lots of weddings clothes tend toward frumpy mutton

Nah I reckon you'll be alright if they're teamed with heels and a nice top.

She's 10, when I was 10 I thought 25 was sooooo old!

What kind of wedding is it?

I agree it depends on the trousers. Or indeed on the dress. Some dresses can be frumpy/aging as well. Nothing wrong with trousers necessarily.

Though "printed peg-legged trousers" does not sound the most elegant thing, I have to admit. Do you have a link or a photo?

does she heed your fashion cues?

there is your answer

She has a style of her own. She thinks everything I wear is ugly tbh.

The kind of dress that suits me is frumpy tbh. V neck wrap styles.

I'll try to link some trousers I've got, but I was going to buy some new ones, as yet undiscovered.

Arse.
They are red & blue. Usually hate next but I like these sooo much. Probs more summery tbh.

You know the Boden jaquard ones? That sort of thing.

Using the word 'trews' makes you sound old. I don't think I've seen it since the catalogs of my (distant, 1960s) youth Grin

Don't wear trousers. Find a gorgeous dress. S&B is amazing at helping people find great outfits, and you'll look much more glamorous.

And your daughter will be so proud of helping you find a new look. That's very cute!

Wear the trousers. I love all the jacquard around at the moment.

Wearing a dress doesn't always = chic. Not from what I've seen at all the weddings I've attended.

It would be nice to see a gorgeous trousers outfit at a wedding for a change. To be honest, your typical 'weddingy' dress is a bit samey to me...

Would spend the bucks on an amazing one if I knew where to look... have seen some fabulous trouser outfits at weddings (although they're not in the majority).

I'm with your daughter on this, for the same amount of money you can/will find a dress that will make you look and feel fab. Trousers tend to be a "safe " option for people so maybe your daughter thinks that you are too young to be playing safe...

Trousers aren't safe, dresses are safe! Wear what you want.

Next need to sort out their website

Dresses are safe at weddings.

Diane Keaton would wear trousers to a wedding. Bianca Jagger wore trousers to her.

I hear you but it would be hard to compete to either mentioned above and she is a guest so white is out..

It's not the floral printed harem trousers is it because if it is I think they would be a very bad idea.

Grimma, they are snazzy trews. I said that to her. I am old.

I think trousers as wedding outfits are awful. Buy a nice dress.

They aren't hareem on me! I must have a saggy gusset.

I think it could look chic. maybe not with my arse though.

Caja, she has "styled" me before, with very good results. She doesn't hold back if she thinks an outfit is wrong.

Trousers are v.in this winter. But not those Next ones.

Maybe some slim trousers with a peplum top and heels. But they would have to be v.g trousers.

I think you can wear trousers if they are good ones with nice shoes and top. Especially if you are a habitual trouser wearer and will feel uncomfortable in a dress. I see a lot of mistakes at weddings (not that I am anybody to judge) Wink
