Are charm bracelets naff?
(30 Posts)I really like the idea of Pandora-type bracelets that you can add to, but I find Pandora a bit too expensive, especially as I can only wear gold. I was therefore thinking of getting a charm bracelet and adding to it gradually, but wondered if they were considered a bit naff?
Would really welcome your views - thanks
Charm bracelets in themselves aren't naff - it's the Links sweetie bracelet style ones that look very common now
Nope I would consider the pandora style naff, every chav and their dog seems to have one lately.
Traditional charm bracelets are much more stylish and timeless.
Apologies in advance to all the pandora lovers
Traditional charm bracelets are much more stylish and timeless.
I am so glad to hear that
Chav?
Is there any bloody need to use that word?
Please just buy and enjoy whatever bracelet you want. It's lovely to have a special memory bracelet on your wrist with every charm telling a story. Don't worry about what others will be thinking, it will be on your wrist, not their's.
Oh and I love pandora bracelets.
I have a Tiffany's charm bracelet that I love. Whatever you get there will be people who love it and people who don't. There's no point in trying to look universally stylish, it's impossible!
My DD has one, every charm has a meaning, If that's naff then who gives a toss.
I've got a Thomas Sabo one which I wear daily. Not sure if those are 'chavvy' or not, but I don't care, i like it.
I have a Nomination one that I wear every day, I love it!
I have one that my mum was given when she was just 18 . She's passed on the stories of all the charms and i've added some more charms. Have some lovely old ones that open up. My littlle DD loves it too and is as fascinated with it as i was at her age.
Do you have a DD? Consider it an heirloom.
I've got a links of London one and a Tiffany one. They are beautiful but I don't wear them very often. I tried to sell them to cash converters but they 'don't buy silver' even though it was worth a lot
My mum gave me a stork charm after my DD was born.
Oh I have a Nomination one too. I forgot about that one
My Mum got one for her 18th birthday and had spent a lifetime collecting charms with every one telling a story. She was going to pass it to me but some bastard broke into our house and stole all her jewellery, she was broken hearted.
Go for it, I wish I still had Mums
Naff?
yes.
HTH
I have a Pandora one with the DCs birth stones on it and a few other charms, I don't care if it's naff, it's very personal to me.
Graylily - you would love me! I have a fake Pandora bracelet that my daughter bought me for Christmas last year from a market stall. I love it and wear it a lot.
I have a Pandora bracelet with a couple of charms and clips. DH bought it for me and the charms and clips were all chosen for special memories.
If you find Pandora a bit pricey, try Uber beads
I have a hot diamonds one and a links sweetie one.
Don't care if people think they might be a bit tacky now.
I have had them for years and love them
I have a Pandora.
Every charm is a memory, don't care if it's naff, I love it.
I don't care if they're naff or chavvy. I have 3: Tiffanys (diamond charms), Swaroski (crystal charms) and the Sabo charm watch (plain silver charms). I wear them for all types of occasions - casually, work (formal office) and on a night out.
Who cares if some MNers think they are 'naff', if you want one buy one. I have a links of London one and although I don't wear it all that often I love that each charm is important to me.
