Denim Skirt?

(59 Posts)

I have lost a huge amount of weight, and shopping is a joy now, but I don't know what is in fashion/style. I bought some boots, which look great with skinny jeans, and black tights but I feel a denim skirt would also be a good option. Couldn't see anything today.

Are they now 'out'?

Denim skirts are so last year, they are they new 'Out' confused. Love mine - knee length and a-line also - great with boots, tights, chunky jumper.

Oh I love that one waspie - I'm 5'8", so worth considering how much thigh is on show (albeit in tights)

grin It's not actually mine, I wouldn't be parted from it and for the record that is very much not me. 'Tis just the same as mine.

I am wearing a denim skirt right now - in fact, bought some new dark grey patterned tights today to go with it.
I have a few - today's is from Zara, also have Monsoon, French Connection and White Stuff

I think it makes a nice change from jeans - and since I loathe and detest skinny jeans (which seems to be about all you can buy these days), I wear denim skirts a lot...

Denim skirts are totally frumpy. They are not attractive in any way, whatever the shape/length or colour.

Please adorn your body with something more beautiful.

He He - appreciate all thoughts on this. Thank-you.

I'm trying to get into casual skirts more as I find I live in jeans and only wear skirts to work.

I'm not having a problem finding skirts I like but I am having a problem finding tights that are long enough. So any suggestions on places to buy long length tights would be gratefully received!

Well the pair I bought were from TKMaxx - nothing special, but fit me. Probably no good for 5'10" though.

i am wearing a brown denim skirt from Debenhams last year and i have just ordered the Boden denim one talked about earlier. I am sick of wearing trousers. I don't think they are frumpy.

i have always had one in my wardrobe over the years. I am 45 and don't think of myself as frumpy.

Waspie Sat 17-Nov-12 19:16:25

I haven't tried TKMaxx Curiosity but I will, thanks. I can see a trip to the shops coming on grin

Right - frumpy or not I have ordered it Waspie.

Indigo mini skirt from Boden

Job done.

<dusts hands>

Waspie Sat 17-Nov-12 19:29:02

Sorted! We shall be frumpy together Curiosity grin. almemci may join our "Boden mini frump club" if she wishes wink

TBH you have to trust your own judgement about whether something is frumpy/mumsy/bogging. The number of times I have looked at some item of clothing loads of people are cooing over on here and think to myself 'do you people not have eyes?!!', it is surprising!

I agree dexter - it'd depend totally on your shape/size and height. I saw someone at soft play in a brilliant combination of clothes that would look shit on someone with a different shape/features.

I never liked uggs. There I said it - but other people do. <shrugs> I'm so out of the loop I appreciate advice, but I'm also looking at what I think looks good on someone like me; hence starting the original thread.

I like wearing my denim skirt with Uggs - kill me now grin!!!

thanks would be honoured Waspie. Love being frumpsville

I think they are less fashionable than they were, but are never totally out of fashion.

If you want fashionable, try shorts (denim or not) with your tights and boots.

I used to wear them a lot in my early 20s - various lengths - very short, knee length and really long almost down to my ankles. I went through a phase of not wearing jeans or trousers.

My knee length one comes out of the wardrobe every now and again but I don't think the really short one suits me now - too much flabby thighs exposed!!

I've got mine on today. Felt like wearing it after this thread! Wearing it with thick grey tights, stripy burgundy heattech top and a burgundy jumper.

I almost live in my indigo Boden mini. Have almost worn out my first one (about 3 yrs old now) so recently bought another the same to replace it, haven't worn it yet tho. Works for every & thick tights in autumn& winter, leggings or bare legs (eek!) in warmer weather with converse or flip flops smile

70isaLimitNotaTarget Sun 18-Nov-12 14:16:24

Well I've got an M&S one with a little 'kickpleat' at the front.
Above the knee, so IMHO not frumpy.
46yo, size 12 butt. 5'5".

I look lush so there grin
