I dont have the energy or inclination to look for an outfit :(
Its my grandads funeral next friday, I'll also be going to the graveside so it will be cold.

I have nothing suitable and neither do my girls (who will be attending the funeral but not the graveside) they are 9 months and 2 years.

we have limited shops where we are, next, tesco and dothery perkins. I can also get to an asda, newlook, matalan but thats about it.

please help me find something

Are you having a black only code? For my brothers funeral we didn't, so people just wore anything. This seems to be the case these days, so could you find something you already have? Saves having to go trawling round the shops.

But I guess as its the funeral of an elderly person, it may be more traditional so you may want to wear black...? I'm sure you'd find something in the shops you mentioned though.

You really don't have to worry about the little ones, they don't need to wear anything special. For yourself I'd get a plain black shift dress which most of those stores should have in their workwear sections. Do you have a dark coat?

I really dont have anything sunny, my grandad was very traditional so no trousers will be alowed on women Hmm (thats a whole other thread, but its one day)
and I dont own a skirt, I have a couple of dresses, but they are either ones I've worn to weddings or very very casual.

I guess the girls could wear a demin skirt with a purple stripy top, thats not too bright is it?

This would be fine, could wear your camel coat over it.
M&S will easily get it to you for next week.

Thanks, the second one is nice I may order both tho and take back the one I don't wear.
I don't know why I couldn't just do that tho, i seem to just have a mental block about the whole thing. It's not like it was even unexpected he was 91! Hmm

Doesn't make any difference, is still emotionally exhausting, even when expected. Take care of yourself, love.

What plum said

Don't worry about the babies, no one expects them to wear formal clothes to a funeral.

Have you thought of borrowing a plain dark skirt or dress from a friend? It doesn't be to be black -anything smart and dark is fine. Dark brown, dark grey, navy , anything like that.

If you have a camel coat and smart dark shoes and tights, no one will really notice what you have on underneath.

It's always very cold at a graveside so remember gloves and hat. Scarf too of your coat is open at the neck

How casual are your dark dresses? Woudl they do with a plain dark cardigan over and smart shoes or boots? Unless they are very bright colours of too shor they might be ok
