I need to update my working wardrobe with a new trouser suit and a dress - can anyone suggest where to shop for these please?

What shape are you and how formal is your area of work?

Slim with no waist and a small bum.

I need a black or charcoal formal suit for client meetings, presentations etc. Can dress it up or down with tops, shoes, scarves, jewellery etc.

I like shift dresses but the ones I see are sleeveless.

shift dress with nipped in waist and sleeves
this will look good with a slim frame like yours- have seen the colour in person- it's gorgeous!!
this to emphasis waist

What kind of budget?

medium range.

I love the Austin Reed dresses but prefer these to be black or grey, not red!

Austin reed tends to be a bit longish so you may need nipping in if you are not an amazon smile
here is a nice belted shift dress.
There are some decent ones here in neutrals
nice grey one
this is really smart.
smart black dress

Depending on how traditional you need to be: look in Hobbs; Laura Ashley; LK Bennett; Banana Republic (and if you sign up for BR email, they seem to have 25% off every other day).

If less traditional, look in Zara for good basics at good prices (but likely to be black)

Oh and also Phase Eight for slightly less structured looks.

Thanks everyone.

Some new suggestions for me to follow up e.g never thought of Laura Ashley as I still associate them with flowery frocks smile
