Is Mini Boden going to stop at aged 10 next season?

I have just received the Spring preview for mini boden and planned to order a couple of items for my 12 year ds. However, unless my eyes are deceiving me, the mini boden Spring collection is only going up to age 10! This year they redcued the age that JohnnieB starts at to age 8 but it so much more expensive to buy than miniboden. An age 13-14 fleece lined hoodie costs more in JohnnieB than an age 13-14 fleeced lined hoodie in miniboden. Not surprising then that all the fleeced lined hoodies in big sizes sell out quickly ( i just tried to order one and all plain colours are sold out) - as do the large pyjama sizes in both girls ans boys.
I appreciate that it is difficult making clothes that suit both a 4 year old and a 14 year old. But actually Boden were pretty good at it.
Johnnie if you are watching this please keep making miniboden up to age 14. I will be a very unhappy customer !

Yep, appears to be the case. TBH I have always been amazed that they think a 14 year old would be seen dead in the same clothes as a 2 year old (especially some of the girls dresses!!), however I totally agree re the pricing. Not on!

I am worried about this too. Buy at least half of dd's wardrobe from Boden every year (we live overseas so not so ubiquitous here). DD is now at the cut off age (she is 9 but we will be buying clothes for 10 yr olds next year) and the Johnnie B range seems to be much smaller with very few choices (although preview choice will hopefully expand).

I'm a fan of Boden's customer service though and want to continue buying from them so fingers crossed they come up with the goods next year.

Having said all that, wanted to buy my 13 yr old niece a birthday present from current Johnnnie B range and chose what I thought was a very nice black and grey striped dress (just the sort of thing she would like) and then noticed it had ridiculous yellow gloves attached here - the sort of thing a toddler would love but a self-conscious 13 yr old wouldn't be seen dead in!! So perhaps it all needed a bit of a re-jig ...

I've always thought the girls stuff, particularly far too babyish past a certain age. My dd has been turning her nose up at mini boden since she was about 8yo (now ten). I've just got her xs JohnnieB, but only in the sale as it is soooo expensive.

The boys stuff is much cooler.

If that's the case, then I'm pleased ds (aged 11 nearly 12) is small for his age, and still fits into age 9-10 clothes. He likes the Mini Boden stuff, but not the Johnnie B things (apart from the very plain stuff).

Agree with others that Mini Boden becomes too babyish past a certain age anyway. DD just turned 8 although V petite . She told me a while ago that she had grown out of Mini Boden!! She prefers the denim skirts, jeans and cartoon printed tops and Ts from Next which she thinks is far more her age.

Agree about the Johnnie B prices. Madness! Lots of people looking to reduce spending in current economic climate. Or is that just me!!

Yes, it's true. I really like Boden things in style and quality (but my very tall children aged 7 & 8 are already in age 9-10 or 10-11 so we'd have to switch to JohnnyB with immediate effect. I have had a look at the spring collection and as well as the steep price increase the colours styles are quite dull and drab in comparison to mini boden. Not unlike a duller, drabber version of H&M at quadruple the prices. Whilst much of the mini boden range is overly babyfied and aimed at 2-3 year old's particularly the boys clothing I am sure cute 2-3 year olds (and parents) and tall trendy 7 and 8 year olds could all still be catered for within mini boden label especially as they now have a baby/toddler section? :-(

A Midi Boden?

I really like JohnnieB , and would buy some for myself if I wasn't so fat.
I can swallow the sale prices, as a lot of it is Jack Wills-y., but slightly cheaper & much better quality.

I am glad I am not the only one disappointed with this decision by Boden. I emailed their customer services and they have confirmed that miniboden is stopping at age 10. I shall be emailing back to express my disatisfaction with the inflated Johnnieb prices ( it's still kids clothes so shouldn't be subject to VAT).
While i agree that some of the miniboden range is too young for a 12 year old there are some core items in the boys miniboden range that i buy each year - pjs, lined skate trousers, fleecelined hoodie, skate shorts, jeans etc. Admittedly my 12 year old tends to choose the plainer colourways than his 8 year old brother but otherwise he is very happy to wear them.
There should definately be a midi boden as UUG suggested to cater for the 6 - 12 age range.
Johnnie B is so much more expensive and very limited choice. I can't see myself buying much of it.
Needless to say, I have just placed an order for the fleece boys pjs in 13-14 which I will put away for next year for my eldest to grow into !
