Is a peacoat always double breasted?

I quite fancy one but am not good with double breasted due to generous frontage. And any suggestions for where does nice ones that are not too £££?

Yes I think peacoats are generally double breasted. They are originally menswear, worn by sailors etc, hence uniform-like and designed to accentuate shoulders.

The best budget source for peacoats is Army & Navy stores.

But if I were you I'd try to find some other coat shape that is more flattering. Would an A-line work?

I think I'd prefer something more fitted as I'm very hourglass so prefer to show my waist or I can look a bit pregnant! I didn't realise they were originally a men's coat, no wonder so many men's ones come up when I Google!

Try to find a princess coat - that cut would be very flattering on an hourglass.

That's a good idea, I will see what I can find - I remember a lovely Great Plains coat being raved about on here last year and I'm sure that was a princess style.
