Do you have a silk pillow case?

And could you point me in the direction of where to buy one from / which kind is best?

It's for a gift so not too fussed about whether they work as they are reported to grin but there seems to be a few different kinds, from a look on ebay.

I do -- purchased in US so no help in sourcing. I like them my son & husband don't.

Thanks mir, what kind of cost was it and is it real silk (there seem to be mixes as well as synthetic or something confused )

There was a longish thread on silk pillowcases a while back, trying searching for it on here. I seem to remember a lot of recommendations for an eBay one around the £15 mark.

Hope this helps.

I kept getting a funny worded one on ebay - began with m I think, meaning it wasn't actual silk I think <vague>

Is £15 the going rate or is their cheaper (like a one-sided one maybe?!) will try hunt for threads but it's an arse on phone grin

I have bought two from Amazon.

The alternative to a silk pillow case is to get a silky bonnet for afro hair I got one off ebay for £2.99 as my long curly hair teases itself into a hideous frightwig when i'm sleeping. It's not the most flattering of headgear but is worth it to have non-crazy hair in the mornings that i don't wash it.

Thank you both - will have a look.

My mum bought me two from Amazon, they are silk on one side.

IvanaDvinkYourBlad Wed 07-Nov-12 14:14:18

Thanks Clax - do you think it was this one?

I sometimes put a silk scarf on my head or on the pillowcase as I re-read in my Jackie 1975 annual it makes hair shiney

catmadcaz Wed 07-Nov-12 18:40:47

I bought mine from John lewis pure silk both sides @ £25.00

Claxonia Wed 07-Nov-12 19:55:00

Yes I reckon. I find them really nice.

Do people use a silk pillow case to keep their hair nice, or just because they like the feel? If the latter do you have silk sheets as well?

Viperidae Wed 07-Nov-12 23:21:51

My face doesn't look crumpled in the morning with a silk pillow and my hair is less fluffy.

I got mine at John Lewis

IvanaDvinkYourBlad Wed 07-Nov-12 23:22:34

I think it's wrinkles and hair, Roller ? Supposedly doesn't drag on the skin / crumple the hair.

S'not for me, so I'll never know (am happy with a few hours uninterrupted sleep - it could be silk or straw under my head for all I care!)

RollerCola Wed 07-Nov-12 23:30:22

Oh right wrinkles too?! Is it not a bit - slidey?

BegoniaBigtoes Thu 08-Nov-12 11:28:09

The john lewis ones are lovely but expensive, so after having a look at them I went to the fabric section and got a piece of silk and made a pillowcase with silk on one side, cost about £9. If you're not keen on sewing a pillowcase from scratch, you could just get a plain pillowcase, take it to fabric shop, get silk to fit one side plus a bit extra for folding in the edges, and sew that on.
